Tubby would be open to a Royce White return

Wow, as much as Id like to see White suit up in Maroon and Gold, Im just extremely sick of the soap opera that has been going on. I really think he needs to grow up and stop listening to freakin Troy Hudson. Sure you can take the hard way and possibly make it into the NBA but why not take advantage of a free education and work on your skills so the scouts can actually see how good you are.

As ridiculous as White has acted and as wrong as a message that would send, I'd be open for his return also. I just really want to see him play in a Gopher uniform. Don't ask why. I know it's not a good idea to let him return.

I have found that some of the people on this board still fail to realize that he is gone. This guy has been a huge distraction to this team, and now is history. Let's get over it, and not look back. I understand Tubby's want to be a "mentor" to White, but saying that he would be open to his return after he leaves, well, sounds arrogant to me.

This program has gone all in for White, and fittingly so, lost. Let's cut the losses, if there is any capital left, and concentrate on the present and the future.

If Royce were to drop out of spring semester then enroll next fall would he be eligible next year?

Another question; with Nolen being ineligible is he allowed to still practice with the team?

I saw that yesterday Myron's chat. I actually emailed him about it and asked if he could explain why he thought that. He didn't reply, go figure. I've had enough of the soap opera with this one. I wish him well and hope he's successful in whatever he does .. but not in a Gopher uniform.

I hate to say this, but Tubby needs Royce about as much as Royce needs Tubby. To prevent next year from turning into a complete debacle and staining his legacy, Tubby really could use Royce out on the court next season. Next year is gonna be awfully depressing around here and Tubby knows it. I don't see any players of his caliber coming in next year to help us win games.

Al is practicing but can't travel with the team.

Will there ever be an end to the "Royce" return posts? He is gone and hope we can all move on...

A complete debacle? Why in the world is everybody so negative about next year? Look, this year isn't even a lost cause. We have a legitimate chance to win the games we're supposed to win, steal one or two on our home court, and go to the Tourney. Sure, it's not as good as we would have liked it, but it's not over. And next year, we lose Larry and DJ, but they haven't been as consistent as all that this year. It's not like we're losing All World players. We're losing a very good defensive player who can't rebound, and hasn't shown much willing to create on offense, and a player with undoubted offensive ability, but an occasionally petulant attitude, no real defense, and serious physical limitations. How exactly would that make a debacle? Even if we never see Mbakwe or Al or Royce on the floor for us next year, I still think our current core would put us in good position to finish in the upper half of the Big Ten at least next year. I'm as upset about the Royce thing as anybody, but calm down folks. This season isn't even a debacle yet.

He needs to be completely away from anything related to the U for now and really figure out what he wants to do. Six months may be enough to decide, maybe not.

Tubby doesn't need Royce quite as much as Royce needs Tubby. Royce's basketball future depends on advancing his game, and doing that under Tubby would be a smart choice. Clearly, having Royce on his team helps Tubby, but Tubby is still going to have a job either way. Royce might not (as far as basketball goes).

If he thinks he's ready for the NBA and he has people in his ear telling him the same thing, he's gone. If he has NBA teams/agents and/or other people telling him he needs to play at least one year in college first, well, he could end up crawling back. I'd rather not have to think about it though and just whatever happens happens. I don't want to be set up for disappointment.

Exactly.
