Jerry Kill's name in an article about N. Illinois comeback this season from a bad start.

While JM wants a Tubby type hire, he's not going to get it....Leach is toxic and Fullmer is on the way downhill. And if you think Harbaugh is coming here you're smoking something illegal! Those Mississippi guys just want raises/extensions so they get there name thrown out. Guy's like Trestman & Gruden are NFL types.

The reality is you're going to have to take a chance on somebody and a guy like Jerry Kill is probably within reach and has the experience you're looking for...building a program into a winner. Hoke, Calhoun, Sumlin...maybe Edsal and maybe even a good coordinator. These are the highest level you're going to reach. And frankly, I'm not for a guy from Temple...I mean Temple?? Do the Owls even play football?

(BTW If they choose him, I'll deny ever having posted this and support him completely)

You have to take a chance on someone and Jerry Kill just might be a home run.

GO GOPHERS!

New from football scoop...

Minnesota: A few weeks ago, we told you that Minnesota AD Joel Maturi had interest in Omaha Nighthawks head coach Jeff Jagodzinski. We had heard that Jags was on Maturi's initial list on candidates. Now, from what we understand, Maturi has indeed recently interviewed the former Boston College head coach.

Kill has been my #1 second tier coach all along.

Deja Vu all over again?

I like Jerry Kill as an option, but one thing bothers me

Would we have to veto due to the fact he looks like an enticing candidate who just beat the Gophers earlier in the season?

Seems like the basketball team did that in the wake of the Clem scandal and jumped to hire Monson. I'm just throwing it out there......

The difference with Kill is that he has a long established track record of winning at three different levels.

These paragraphs From the article seem to indicate a depth and consistency that would be desirable:

The always understated Kill knows there is still another goal out there, and that is to win the MAC. But one of the biggest goals coming into the season was to help a senior class that went 2-10 in 2007 go 10-2 this season.

Kill has made this program better in each of his three seasons, and will become the first coach in school history to take the Huskies to three straight bowl games.

“It’s fun watching something grow,” Davis said. “My first year here was Coach Kill’s first year here, and the success surprised me a little bit. It’s just the coaching philosophy he has and the way he does things that allows his teams to be successful. It’s great to watch something grow and it’s great to be a part of something grow like this. We’re looking forward to finishing the season strong and completing the journey.”

Kill is not just being considered because he beat us. He is being considered because he has a track record of success. We have to get away from the attitude of if there is any similarity with Munson, Wacker or Brewster, than he must be just like them. If we hire an experienced BCS HC, you might as well say he's Holtz, and will just be gone in two years. (And yes, I know the BCS didn't exist when Holtz was hired) That kind of attitide would preclude any coach from being hired.

If the rumors of certain coaches being "out of the running" are true, Jerry Kill would probably be the most satisfying option remaining.
