I believe the booth can overturn a penalty call/non-call for objective calls: 12 guys on the field, delay of game, illegal forward pass, just not judgment calls like holding, pass interference, etc.

That's an interesting idea. The dude made a bad decision to field the ball in the corner, and simply had a brain-fart trying desperately to figure out how to get out of that spot. Maybe he did fall back on b-ball instincts. Been there, done that.

In this case, the referee incorrectly ruled that the player had stepped out of bounds before he released the ball. After the replay booth determined that the ball was released prior to stepping out, the field refs made the illegal forward pass call.

The play pretty much summed up Iowa's play that day.
