They were discussed as one of his potential landing spots. I didn’t think much of it until I saw Cade McNamara hit the portal.

McNamara Was hitting it regardless - that bridge has been burned. Louisville seems to make the most sense but who knows

Moss is a solid QB but that would be a massive downgrade for him in terms of WR talent. Not sure why any QB who wants to throw the ball would want to transfer to Iowa....

McNamara was gone one way or another, so I don't think that means much.

That said, Moss would certainly be a nice upgrade for the Hawks but he's nothing special. He looked average to slightly above average at times in a Lincoln Riley offense, I don't see him turning into an All-American in Iowa City.

Miller moss is the only QB who couldn’t put up big numbers with Lincoln Riley. Not convinced he would put up the numbers witching from Riley to Ferentz

He's kinda damaged goods right now. Got benched at USC and was the 9th best QB based on Rating in the B1G. 10th in Comp %, tied for 5th in interceptions. 2:1 TD to Int ratio.

To be fair his numbers were very big considering he didn't play the last few games of the year. He made some poor decisions. 283 YPG and 2tds a game. He would have led the B10 in yards most likely if he played the whole year. And he didn't win enough.

He did throw for 375+ against LSU. His worst game was probably MN.

All that said, I seriously doubt he would come close to duplicating those numbers at Iowa.

Also led the league in yards per game and threw 2 tds per game.

He really had two bad games - MN and Washington.

He has talent. He also makes mistakes. But I doubt he would put up those numbers at Iowa.

And literally every other QB other than mass Riley has coached has been a heisman top two finisher

Like, everything he touches turns to gold at the position and this guy had a lower QB rating than Ethan Garbers

I’m not even talking yards and touchdowns
I’m talking that he is 9th in the conference in QB rating and tied for 8th in TD/INT ratio

His QB rating was halfway between
Braedyn Lock and Luke Altmyer

Totally fair, and I do not think he is a program changing QB. His rating was about 2.5 points below Max and everyone loves him. I do think he has talent.

I also think he had top end WR's and if Max had those he would have better numbers too...

I think he has talent too. But I don’t think going to a place like Iowa will get more out of his talent. Will probably get less out of it.

Kind of like Mcnamera performed better at Michigan than Iowa.

Mcnamera should’ve never left Michigan. He would the starter and they would probably have won another game or two.

Why did McNamara enter the portal?

We can only worry about our roster and team and I like the way Fleck is tackling it. Brosmer was a Godsend for this program. I'm sure that that model is what Fleck is going to seek each year. I smart QB that brings a lot to the QB room. Harbaugh likely learned a lot from his QB this year, which will only help going forward.

They are losing the main running back which is more important than a QB with a lack of receiving core. Kaleb Johnson single handily won most of their games from the offensive perspective including against Minnesota.
Is Moss really more hyped than when McNamara transferred into Iowa?

Why did McNamara enter the portal?
I certainly don't know all of the details but there was definitely some sort of rift between him and the coaching staff, and maybe some teammates. He also apparently burned a lot of bridges on his way out of Ann Arbor so it seems like he just has a maturity issue overall.

If I were a betting man, I'd put money on Auburn. It just means more, you know.

I'm not worried about Moss, but he'll likely get better wherever he ends up. That's what young people do with more practice. He'd be a great addition here to compete with our young guys and he's only a junior! Once one of them takes control of the position, the other top contenders will just transfer out.
