Andre Hollins is good at scoring? I thought he was only a necessary cog in tossing the ball around the perimeter for 25 seconds, looking for the perfect opportunity to feed marginal at best post scorers. Someone finally had the sense to turn him loose! Look out!

He has been more aggressive so far this year for sure. And with the way he shoots free throws he needs to continue to be aggressive and take advantage of the new rules.

The key to this whole thing is the recruitment of Deandre Mathieu. As someone posted, he's the frickin' linchpin. Pitino refers to him as having been a must-get.

Yep. Mathieu is key. He is steady. He has energy. He is quick but in control. Really allows Dre to become the stud he is... Nice to know they are both back next year.

Vaughn needs to start watching these games. He will put up huge numbers for the Gophers. Vaughn, Dre and Deandre would be sick.

Point guards are important.

Someone tell Tubby.

Not for sure that Dre is coming back especially if he keeps putting up big numbers. His draft stock will only rise.

That line up of guards would absolutely be amazing. Good thing I have a year of grad school left, one more year of being able to purchase student tickets!

Can't give anyone credit without bashing former coaches incessantly. Typical of Gopher fans - in both basketball and football.

Mathieu is a nice addition but let's see how he does in the B1G before we get too excited. Driving into the lane and finding the open man isn't going to be nearly as easy as it is now.

Ironically, in order for Dre Hollins to get a roster spot in the NBA he's going to have to play as much pg as possible. 6'2" off guards aren't on the shopping list.

Talented players are often able to make the transition. Bobby Jackson was a 2 guard and backup PG with the Gophs, and he found a career playing the 1 in the NBA.

I agree. I really liked his film and how he has played so far, but I wouldn't be surprised if it takes half a season for him to be consistent. Huge jump from the JUCO ranks to B1G PG.

While it will take some time, its not like he is coming out of nowhere. He was a high major Juco recurit last spring. UCLA was after him and offered.. folks seem to forget we beat out some good programs for him. My point being, his potential and high major ability is not a surprise.

I agree with both of these points - except for one thing - BJ didn't leave school after his Junior year. And neither will Dre Hollins.

Bobby Jackson's Jr. year wasn't all that special considering he was hurt most of it. I suspect Dre will have a much better Jr. year than Bobby did.

If were comparing Bobby Jackson and Dre, lets also hope Dre does his own homework.

Anytime a JUCO PG starts on day one in the best conference in America it is a surprise, regardless of his offer list. I still think there will be some growing pains like most JUCO's their first year, but I hope I'm wrong.
