I can see why Kill wanted to drop UNC

We are hurting so much. Injuries, youth and mental errors are much to blame for this debacle. I still loathe Wisconsin. Eff you Becky. Ski U Mah.

This is a tough one. We were completely dominated in the front 7. I just don't know what to think? Weren't they praising the Strength & Conditioning program this off season? Isn't looking too hot right now if you ask me. Injuries and just lack of strength in key areas are really glaring factors for our team IMO. I would think a good S&C program would help to fight off injuries? I guess right now we are just too banged up and not strong enough in the trenches to be competitive if you ask me. Ok, I'm done venting now. Hopefully playing all this youth will only help us get better! I certainly hope so. There's no where to go but up, right?! :)

Go Gophers!

The injury/youth excuse is there for the offense. Not so much with the defense though. Not like Wisconsin was doing anything special on offense we just couldn't stop them right up the middle.

NC is not #10 Bucky in Camp Randall. Stupid post!

The injuries thing, I have no idea. I thought that some of the discussion about Klein (SC guy) being able to prevent injuries was nonsense, I thiknk those simply happen in football. We are extremely depleted right now.

As far as the strength of our team...if you're looking at offense. They are WAY too young to compete right now. Our offensive line was young to begin with, but those guys out there right now are mostly backups. I thought they actually played decent (considering), but you can't expect a SC coach to perform miracles.

The DL is largely the same. It's not due to injuries, but Hageman and Wilhite are the only upperclassmen playing.

If these are still issues when we are finally playing JRs and SRs, then something's up.

We don't have a single person on the roster who's a legitimate starting B10 linebacker.

Not one.

Cooper is probably playing out of position.

It doesn't matter how experienced or talented our defense is, if we aren't going to exert effort on tackles and fighting through blocks, it won't matter.

Cheap shot. Get over it.

Not a cheap shot. After today, I think Kill knew exactly why he made that decision. Umm, New Mexico State beat us at home. I honestly don't think we see the worm turn until Kill's
4th year. So if you're going to Las Cruces, which is a beautiful area, bring the sticks and be satisfied with the golf and the area incase the Gophs get beat

I think Kill anticipated last summer that he might have to start over again this fall.

I agree. I had the same observation during the Iowa game. We're just small on the offensive line, which when added to the inexperience is really the biggest issue with the team right now.

What's weird is the QBs have had pretty good protection while the running game has had no space to maneuver. Maybe you're right. There not big enough to "fire out" and knock somebody out of the way, but they stand their ground fairly well.

Your right. Youth is a big key factor after I calmed down to think about it. We just need to develop those bodies into players that will be ready to play. The thing that bothers me is, why even beat the drum of Klein's S&C program is helping prevent injuries, when the last two seasons, our O-Line has just been decimated by injuries? Your right, I think it is a bunch of non sense as well. Good post. :)

I didn't Klein's training methods would have any effect one way or the other on injuries. I'm just not seeing a very physical offensive line. Part of that is technique, but we seem small as well.

Honestly, if we were healthy, we still would have been pounded. Who wasn't healthy that would have made a difference, honestly?

All I expected this year was to not be embarrassed, and this loss was embarrassing.

Our two best OL might have helped a little bit in the running game.

As for the strength and conditioning, I see our problems on defense being more technique, especially at LB. I don't remember what happened on the play, but there was one where Aaron Hill never even took a step toward the line of scrimmage. He essentially froze, took a step back, then got blocked by a big OL. He didn't even have a chance.

That dude is catching blocks 6 yards deep!
