For whatever that's worth. No more info than what's out there as far as a name goes, but there WILL be a press conference for the Gopher football program on Monday.
 

Source? Someone in the athletic department? Are they telling media sources a time, or just sending signals?
 

So you believe we've actually hired someone? You had said yesterday you were still concerned about that.

They're announcing that they found nobody, so they're folding the program.

Well, that's the "feeling" this person has. But Mona has apparently kept the steel trap shut. I suppose that they could pull some bait and switch and have the press conference be about something else. But the feeling at this time is that it's to announce the head coach. It's an all hands on deck kind of thing.
 

Ok cool, but The U said we would find out from Social Media first. So does that mean today or early tomorrow morning?
 

I suspect they'll release it on facebook or whatever about 5 minutes before the PC.

Someone just leak it already.
 

If they've hired someone and that's what the press conference is for on Monday, this will break today or tonight. There's no way it won't. They won't be able to contain it. The coach would've had to have informed his team, and there will be a thousand different ways it comes out after that. If it doesn't come out tonight, then I officially get really worried that they haven't hired anyone.

Unfortunately we have spent so much money on all this secrecy, these covert ops, smokescreens, etc. there is not enough money left to hire the guy we wanted.

Oh well.
 

I would strongly imagine that the Gophs would announce at the very same time the coach is talking to his players. Absolutely no reason to wait after that.

true, though i figured we should be stalking twitter for player tweets on 'coach is leaving' which may appear during/before any leak from the U.

still holding out that its Petersen, but his 'meeting' is the annual banquet and thats not til 2pm cst (though the flight from boise at 220 mst is intriguing - about the time the banquet would be over...)
 



In the past two major decisions made -- hiring of Tubbby, firing of Brewster -- they have announced it late in the day on one day and had a press conference the following day. That might have even been the case when Brewster was hired, but I can't remember.

I would anticipate that happening again. It is very possible that we will know something in five to six hours.
 

As I posted last night in terms of the Boise meeting, I don't think they would announce in advance that the meeting is for Petersen to say goodbye. The other stuff could be a cover. Plus, if rumors are true that the coach is flying in tonight, that would all fit with Petersen. Just speculating...
 

I would be comfortable betting my life that it's not Petersen.
