How will this team respond to the events of last week(game result, Coach Kill's health, etc.?

1.InspiredThey will come out sky high for coach Kill and the teams first win of 11'.

2. Slightly Shell shocked. Will question what really matters. May not be totally focused on the game itself.

3. Won't matter either way. They will focus in a business like manner like it is a normal game week (which in reality it is).

I ask this because college football can be a very emotional game. It's not always easy for young guys to shake something like that off. Some may have never witnessed someone having a serious medical issue before.

My answer wasn't a choice.

* They will start the next game looking like deer in headlights, just like the last 2.

I was going to say pretty much the same thing, before I read this. What little I've heard from players following the game, it seemed like they took everything in stride. I don't think they're going to be distracted contemplating the delicate nature of life, I would hope they were fired up to win the last two games as well, and that they will be this week too. But that hasn't gotten them a win so far.

This will be a test of Kill's & Co.'s style. They seem to be very even keeled. This is not to suggest that they aren't very emotionally committed. Rather, that they are much more business like in their approach. No, "My dad gummed chilli is hot..." crap out of this staff. We'll see if they can embody this in their players. So far from what the kids say, it looks like they have.

I am really looking farward to this game. Go Gophers!

After the egg they layed?

I would hope they come out like it was the day after Pearl Harbor.

Deer in Headlights

Well put. I have been very surprised how we started both games but especially the home game. We looked dazed. The second half we shut out USC and would have done the same to the Aggies without the phantom interference. So we can play.

It just seems like almost nobody on the entire team is playing with any confidence. Yes, we have some guys who have made plays but those
same guys have looked lost the next play out there too. Their performances have been very strange to me.

How will we do Saturday? I bet the coaches wonder the same thing.
And that is not normal.

If you can't play confident and inspired on Saturday..playing at home, on a beautiful day, with a full house, a 325 member band, like a hundred danceline, spirit squad cheerleader members after coming off a 2 point loss on the road to #25 in the country knowing you could have played better and won. If you can't play inspired and confident for 10 year old Mia among a hundred other reasons we could point to... including for many guys having family being present. Inspired by 9/11 tributes to service. If New Mexico can't inspire you to relax and play confident. If none of that happened playing for a healthy Coach Kill, why would a seizure inspire them to play confidently? It might, but it might not have any effect as well.

I expect more of the same. A D that cannot guess correctly if it is a run or pass. Still, to early to tell if it is play calling not guessing correctly or players not playing well.

If this continues someone (player or coach) will begin to tell the media what is up.

So, when was the last time that the team actually came out fired up and played well from the get-go?

I honestly cannot remember a game in the past 3-4 years where we started off fast.

Probably the best answer would be the MSU game from two years ago, on Halloween. We were up 14-0 less than two minutes into the game.

It's sad that I had to go back almost 2 years to find a good answer to this question.

Even worse, you have to go back another year to find a game where the Gophers never trailed: October 25, 2008 at Purdue, 32 games ago.

UGH!!

Did not trail in 1 of the last 32 games. That is a stat that everyone should wrap their arms around and rip its ugly head off. Post that on the bulletin board.
