How will this affect Wisky the rest of the way?

O'Brien will be enough for them to win one more game, get to Indy, and lose, which was what was going to happen anyhow. Stupid Leaders.

Nail on the head. It's incredible how lopsided the divisions are going to be from here on out.

How do you figure. OSU will be bowl eligible next year and will probably be favored to win the B1G. Wisky is not championship caliber but they return most everyone except Ball. PSU is not eligible but they can still beat up their Legends crossover matchups. Indiana is on the rise, a little more erratic than the Gophers (ahead on offense, way behind on D, ahead on recruiting). Purdue and Illinois look bad.

The Legends probably centers on the same mean but with a lower high end (Neb or Michigan, but they aren't as strong as OSU) and a higher low end (actually looks like Iowa this year, and we'll see how the Gophers end up). NU and MSU are a strong middle ground.

Yeah, the Legends division will be decent again next year, however, it will likely be extremely top heavy. Penn State is going to start to see the impact more and more of their punishment. Indiana is struggling, Illinois is in shambles and Purdue might be bottoming out. It still only leaves WI and tOSU as good teams with a chance at much.

Leaders is much stronger from top to bottom. But I will give you that tOSU should be the best team in all of the Big 10 for a bit.

As for the original question, I think Stave is much better than O'Brien. Someone else pointed out that either way they were likely to lose in the Big 10 Championship game (probably have a smaller chance of pulling off that upset now).

However, when you analyze their season a little more in depth (as that part could have been argued with any player injury since about week 2 of the Big 10). I think they'll beat Indiana (could be a bit more pesky for a program that is finally tasting some success), but now I figure they will be underdogs in both of their final two games (tOSU and @PSU(their bowl game)).

If I had to guess. . .they'll finish at 7-5 and they probably would have finished 9-3 with Stave (i'm assuming that they would have held on to beat MSU and Penn State). I think they also hurt their chances a bit in the Big 10 Championship and the Bowl game. So it could still be a significant swing on their final W-L record.

On the other hand, O'Brien could really improve and step up. It happens every year and they could still finish 8-4 / 9-3 and win the BTC and go to the Rose Bowl. I just think those odds took a significant hit.

In the short term, not much. They'll be in the B1G championship game, but it certainly puts a return to the Rose Bowl in doubt. For the life of me, I can't figure out how O'Brien has crapped the bed the way he has.

Hard to tell about the long range at Wisconsin. They lose Ball, but a Gordon/White tandem will put up a lot of yards behind a more experienced O-line.

Stave looked good. Throws a very nice long ball. I think he could develop into someone a shade better than the Stocco/Tolzien types who have had success at Wisconsin.

The best year PSU will have in the next 6 years is this year. The schollies and raw talent depth runneth dry.

I agree with this. We have a freshman QB (Houston) who is supposed to be a stud, but had shoulder surgery before the season started. I don't think Stave is the answer long-term, but could be a competent to more-than-competent backup. For Indiana, they are even talking Curt Phillips at QB (although this could just be misdirection by BB), who has a lot of heart but has been injured every year he has played. I'd like to see him get a chance in a game - and that's how little faith I have in O'Brien. I think it's a Florida Bowl for Bucky this year.
