As we fans watch the matchups, I doubt most appreciate the difficulty of getting into Big Ten football condition. I played high school ball in MN in the late 60s and remember brutal preseason conditioning drills in 95 deg heat. Run a mile in full gear, then pushups and situps and the like, then wind sprints up and down the field, with no idea how long we'd go, then a little drill called "bear walking" up and down, like pretend youre a bear on all fours and scramble. And salt tablets as a preventive. Kids vomiting, gasping.....

Whats it like in college, say the Big Ten?

It is pretty different than what you’re describing. You know, like weights and nutrition programs. They have set schedules and don’t run miles in gear because their coaches aren’t idiots.
