I was going to post this before the Barker issue arose. I am curious how responsible the strength and conditioning staff is for injury prevention? Kill has consistently gone out of his way to tell us that Eric Klein is the best S&C in the nation. He has Klein leading the team out of the locker room and on the field before games.

Yet here we are, absolutely decimated by injuries. Is this a coincidence and a case of bad luck, or is Klein not doing his job?

wow.....i get trying to generate discussion, but come on man. come on. to even insinuate that is completely unfair to coach klein. it is nothing more than unfortunate bad luck. nothing more.

Good strength and conditioning can help prevent injuries, but you can't conclude from the fact that there are injuries that the strength and conditioning coach didn't do his job. There are no guarantees.

When I think strength and conditioning coach. I think:

1. Eliminate cramping during games
2. Speed recovery after a dog fight to get ready for next week.

Things of that nature. Broken bones, sprained ankles, torn ACL's... That's just bad luck.

Strength and conditioning is just that, strength and conditioning. It's not magic.

I think it has to do with a couple of things.

1. There are a lot of 18-19 year olds playing and they are still growing and developing. Put that against 5th year developed players and injuries happen.

2. We have no depth and injuries are noticed more. If we were deeper, older, and even more competitive we wouldn't notice as much. Only star injuries would be. Mix in red shirts being affected and everything gets magnified.

If injuries don't decline each year, maybe there is a problem. I think the bigger question is recovery times.

I agree on both counts.
