Ohio State has suffered just a few losses over the last several years and it's a mixed bag. Some were to unranked opponents while others were against Top 10 foes. Here's how they went down and how their opponents finished.

2014 - Loss to Virginia Tech, 35-21
Hokies forced three interceptions by Barrett, and held the the Buckeyes' rushing attack to 108 yards. Biggest play was a pick six toward the end of the game, as the Buckeyes were behind just seven points. Virginia Tech finished the season 7-6 with a Military Bowl win over Cincinnati.

2015 - Loss to No. 9 Michigan State, 17-14
Spartans defense really did the job in this one. Barrett had 46 yards passing and the Buckeyes had just 86 yards on the ground. It was really a defensive slugfest where Michigan State managed to be the last one with the ball and won it with the field goal. Michigan State finished the season 12-2 with a B1G Championship and a playoff loss to Alabama.

2016 - Loss to Penn State, 24-21
The Nittany Lions weren't ranked at the time but they of course turned out to be a pretty good team. Their win over the Buckeyes in this case was a mix of them being good and a little luck. Tyler Durbin missed a PAT earlier in the game and then Penn State had a blocked field goal return setting up the win. Penn State finished the season 11-3 with a B1G Championship and a Rose Bowl loss to USC.

2017 - Loss to No. 5 Oklahoma, 31-16
Oklahoma simply looked like the better team that year. The game was a little close at the start but Oklahoma pulled away in the second half and never looked back. They finished 12-2 with a Big 12 Championship and a playoff loss to Georgia.

2017 - Loss to Iowa, 55-24
Iowa got off to a quick start with a pix six in the first quarter. Interceptions were really the story of the game, as Barrett tossed four picks to his three touchdowns. It was also just a sloppy game for the Buckeyes, they had nine penalties and Nick Bosa was ejected in the first half for targeting. Iowa finished 8-5 with a Pinstripe Bowl win over Boston College.

2018 - Loss to Purdue, 49-20
While Haskins threw for 470 yards, they only found the end zone through the air twice. Purdue also held Buckeyes rushing attack to just 76 yards. On offense Purdue just executed exceptionally well. The Buckeyes haven't lost a regular season match-up since this game. Purdue finished 6-7 with a Music City Bowl loss to Auburn.

From what I can tell, the defense has been the deciding factor in most cases. Teams that won have often managed to get a pick six and built off that. The key has really been shutting down the passing attack.

Key to beating them is holding them under 4 touchdowns. If they score mid 20s you have a shot. If you get into a shootout, only a few teams in the country have the guns to match.

Purdue did the "bend but don't break" for 470 Haskins passing yards.

I guess that's always an option.
Gameplan:
OSU has 9 of 12 drives go for scores. All of them FG's for a total of 27.
We score a TD a quarter for a win.
