How many of you think it’s not the coach it’s the conference?

Gopher hockey used to be in a conference where it was tough to win or be in the top 2. Now in the B1G it is like a birthright!

Maybe, they are soft because of not playing UND, UMD, and Denver they play against the B1G gauntlet with not nearly the home ice advantage of the three teams I just listed.

The old WCHA was a constant test and full of tough, hate the Gopher teams which made our teams play through adversity.

I think B1G hockey is soft and just helps to make the Gophers weak.

Just wait till Denver wins again.

#1 problem = the coach
#2 problem = the coach doesn't know how to recruit, develop, and manage goaltending
One of the other problems = the conference but not the primary that needs to be addressed

if you watched PSU play Uconn last night, there was nothing soft about that game at all. to me it's more how and who we are recruiting now and why I'd love to see us be far more active in the 218 area code, especially right now when you're seeing Duluth on a bit of a downer stretch where you could take advantage.

Yes, what’s up with Duluth? I don’t follow college hockey as close as some of you, but what is the reason for their fall off?

Their stretch of playing in frozen fours was more of the anamoly than what we are seeing now.

I mean things come in waves... That was a very talented wave of an incredible D core maximized at tourney time by good coaching. The same kind of wave the Gophers just finished but didn't turn it into 1+ banners which I blame on coaching not getting the most out of them.

Like the Eichel era waves and the Power/Hughes/Beniers era waves.

Not to mention maybe the best big game goalie in a long time in Shepard. His tourney stats are nuts.
