A pointed editorial from a MSU fan to Detroit Free Press writer Joe Rexrode (an excellent reporter, by the way) for Rexrode's weekly fan mailbag, pointing out how silly it is some fans are up in arms about Sparty getting upset by Nebraska after a disastrous performance by the defense.
"People need to remember these are college kids that put their life toward the university we all love and put more hard work into football than any of us even know. I am still extremely proud of the team representing the university the way they have. They have overcome injuries all year and have shown extreme grit and heart. The fans criticizing this team need to take a step back and realize this.
"Dantonio has turned MSU football into one of the best football programs in the nation in an 8-year period. We are not far removed from looking like Purdue does now. When you put things in perspective, 34-4 in the last 38 games is damn impressive. MSU has won the Rose Bowl and Cotton Bowl back to back years. Our only losses are @ Notre Dame, @ Oregon, vs. Ohio State, and @ Nebraska. Three hostile road environments and a home loss to the eventual national champions. If MSU alums and fans cannot be happy with the football program now, they never will be and should find another university to support."

Thanks for some perspective, Erik. Certainly this applies to a lot of places. As fans of our favorite teams, perspective isn't always our best attribute immediately after a particularly excruciating loss (i.e Gophers to Michigan, Sparty to Nebraska).
