There are deep-pocketed donors for NIL collectives, then there’s the second richest person on earth, combined with the exposure and marketing muscle of Barstool. How the hell can we (or anyone else, frankly) hope to compete with that? College sports is so fucked.

This is the world people supposedly wanted.

Unchecked power for the richest people on Earth, turning everything into their personal playthings without any regulation to stand in their way.

College football will eventually just be a toy of billionaires and mega corporations like everything else.

With roster limits going to 105, there’s an expectation of 3,000+ players going into the portal. Roster structures will be interesting.

still remains to be seen if the House settlement will result in any changes to NIL. but if/when there is direct revenue-sharing payments to players, that might reduce some of the emphasis on NIL.

I see that Ted Cruz is talking about sponsoring a bill in the Senate to address issues in college sports, but I don't know whether NIL is part of it. Cruz seems to be more concerned with the idea that players would be considered employees of a school and be able to form unions - which Cruz is opposed to.

I still feel like things will shake out more next year and the year after, giving programs like the Gophs opportunities to get some great talent at a bargain.

Might try this to compete with that NIL power...
