It doesn't really bother me very much either way. I thought it was Bert being Bert when he went for 2 against the Gophers, but I didn't really care all that much. If it makes him feel better about himself in those situations, I say go ahead, I think there is a higher chance it results in something negative than the zero percent chance it could actually help you (by running up the score). For me, the only things that stick out as being really bad are going for two and calling trick plays. I had zero issue with Nebraska throwing the football (except having to witness Martinez's delivery), even deep into the third quarter. They should be allowed to run their offense. Houston actually called off the dogs as well. His 9th TD was thrown with about 11 minutes left in the game and they brought in their backups and actually ran the ball quite a bit (for Houston) in the second half.
