After a season of high (unrealistic) expectations and a very disappointing performance in the Champs Sports Bowl, Brett Bielema may be the Big 10 coach feeling the greatest heat next season. Badger recruiting has not been what it once was under Alvarez, and after reading the Badger boards this evening, it appears as though all is not well in Badgerland.

Also being discussed at great length on the Badger boards on SCOUT and Rivals as well the Florida State boards was the reported factitious handshake at midfield at the game's conclusion. Apparently Bielema's handshake was similar to the one he gave Brewster in the Metrodome last year. Fans on both sides of the issue, said Bielema didn't even look Bobby Bowden in the eye and gave a cursory handshake. He is being ripped on the boards by Seminole and Badger fans alike. I didn't see the episode, and I'm wondering if anyone on this site witnessed the handshake or the lack thereof.

In addition to the switch in wins and losses, it appears as though Bielema's antics are starting to wear thin with the Badger fans as well, and his seat may have gotten a lot hotter.

Go Gophers!!

It looked like Bowden was going to say something to him and he quickly turned and ran off. The usual fare from him, no eye contact. He may have been miffed because it took Bowden a long time to get to midfield, with all the media attention. Jealous?

It takes Bowden a long time to get out of bed in the morning.

Bielema has to be feeling the heat. This team has gone backward in a hurry. Three great running backs and a few plow horses up front, but nothing else.

According to some badger fans I know, bielema is drinking out his welcome in Madison

Man, to drink out your welcome in Wisconsin is some feat. Unless you mean he's drinking fancy beer?

I'm not even going to mention the lousy play calling.

They didn't throw in 1st down until the game was out of control. It's like BB has never heard of play action.

He has the least class of all the coaches in the Big Ten and people all over the country are catching on. It's not just Gopher fans saying this - it's every team the Badgers play!

I have always thought Ferentz has been and is a classy guy and he is an arch rival coach, but BB has managed to set the "class bar" at its lowest rung. I think it is in our best interests that he sticks around there for a few more years because they will be heading South in the standings in a hurry if he stays another 2-3 years.

Amen! Let's start a petition to keep BB around!

I was out on X-mas day with my Minnesota shirt on in Korea. I had started talking to a guy from Indiana (first about b-ball naturally,) but then got on the subject of football. He said that Bielema was his most hated coach in the Big Ten. This was coming from a guy from Indiana. Now what does that say?

BTW...He gave Tubby props.

The best was his interview at halftime. He said they were going to continue to play Wisconsin football, because Florida St wanted no part of it. They then proceed to get blown out in the second half. If that's Wisconsin football Bret, you might want to go back to the drawing board.
