Chin up Gophers. We gave you guys a whoopin' today, but I think you should take away a few positives.

1. Your defense, and in particular your secondary, is pretty good. Your DB's were keeping up with our speedster, Listenbee, and our other WR's for most of the game. Our offense struggled, especially in the second half. I think this unit will get better for you, and you will be facing offenses your defense is more familiar with.

2. Our defense is really good. Yeah, your QB and Cobb had a rough day, but we were getting tons of pressure and stuffing the run. It's hard to establish confidence or consistency when the opposing defense is wrecking havoc from every angle. Your offense has a way's to go, but take some solace in that the TCU defense is the best you will see all season. I like your tight end, he was giving us some fits today.

3. Kill is not your Nick Saban, but he has your program trending up. Losses are tough to deal with (we know how it fees), but he is a good coach. You could tell Gary Patterson was not pleased to defeat his friend, as I'm sure he doesn't want to hurt Kill's standing with Minnesota fans or the administration.

4. Hope you guys that made the trip enjoyed your stay. I saw quite a few Minnesota fans tailgating with TCU fans, and it seemed like a good time. I didn't have many interactions, but there were some Gopher fans in my section who were all cordial. I'm very much looking forward to booking a vacation up there next year. Glad it was an injury-free game for the most part, and good luck with the rest of your season. Would love to see you guys sneak into the Big 10 championship.

You guys have a legitimately good defense. Looking at the numbers we had 268 total yards today. Not great, but last year we had some even more humbling performances vs Iowa (165 yards), Wisconsin (185 yards), and MSU (249 yards). All these schools graduated a number of great seniors with Iowa and Wisconsin now in rebuilding mode. We don't play MSU this year so you're right, we might not see a better defense this year.

Good luck in the Big 12 and hopefully you clean up and make us look better!

Yeah the Frogs D looked pretty good today. I wasn't expecting a win, but I was really hoping to see Cobb break off some big chunks of yardage - didn't happen. I hope that you're right about them being the best D we'll face all year. I think we're on track to build a defense like that up.

In regards to our TE - yes he is very good. At least we took a good direction today in the fact that we looked to Maxx a whole bunch. If we find someone to throw him the ball, this kid could be all world.

Thanks TCUseagull. You put a beat down on us and I'm guessing if Patterson's good buddy had not been on the other sidelines, things would have been even worse. Good luck to TCU the rest of the way.

We had a great time despite the outcome. Great stadium and even better fans! Looking forward to you coming up here next year.

Fear the Frog and Go Gophers!

TCUseagull, thank you for something worth reading. After the meltdown on GopherHole it is a nice change of pace.

I appreciate all you TCU guys posting this week, it was fun. Still not going to keep my chin up right now, that was a pretty embarrassing and pathetic performance by our boys. I'm not saying that by way of trying to diminish your win, you guys had some athletic receivers who made some really nice plays, and I liked the way your defense looked. I think you have a chance to make a good showing in the Big 12 this year (and hope that you do just that). See you next fall.

TCU has a very good team. Much better than I gave them credit for. Good Luck this year Horned Frogs.

Wonder how many more yards we could of had without all the turnovers and how much closer the game could have been? The turnovers killed us today.

You can't teach quickness. TCU was a half a step quicker at many positions, especially on defense. Did you see their
linebacker chase down Maye from behind? The good thing is 4 years ago we would've been a step behind. So we've
got that going for us.

Other than the game itself, TCU was an enjoyable experience. We were one of the Minnesota groups invited to a TCU tailgate, great fans. Really like the revamped stadium, though the seats on the 400 level are deceptively high up. Only complaint would be the constant bombardment of noise at jet engine volume over the PA system. Every possible opportunity to blast something through the speakers was taken - it was a DJ away from being an NBA game.

Regardless, a good first experience in Fort Worth, and hoping to see a large contingent of Frog fans next year in MN.

Excellent post. Point #3 is very astute. Probably don't have to go as far as Saban, maybe could have even said Patterson. Would never be able to afford Saban realm, even Patterson realm would be another 1.5 million per year. Kill's doing a great job for us. Building a GREAT foundation and accomplishing a lot of things that really need to be done. Working his as$ off to change the culture of not only the U, but the whole state.

TCU could've easily been 8-4 last year if not for close loses.

I can see them making a run for the B1G12 Title and possibly the playoffs.

Good Luck Horned Frogs.

Thanks to the Gophers who came for being a good group of fans, and thanks for the nice comments on here. Looking forward to a trip north next year. Please reciprocate the nice weather we had piped in especially for you.

Thought your defense looked pretty good for not facing a lot of up tempo spreads. Turnovers/short fields was the story of the game. Neither team was as good/bad as the score indicated. We'll definitely be rooting for y'all the rest of the way. Especially on Nov. 29.

Oh, and I'm totally stealing Jike Spingleton's line about the NBA game. The amount and volume of music over the PA system during the games has been too high for a couple of years.

The PA and noise levels at TCF Stadium are not much better, especially if you're sitting near the big scoreboard.

I agree with what others have said regarding our visit to TCU.

In this state on September 3rd the weather could be anywhere from 45-100 degrees. I wish I was exaggerating... Come back to GH next year, there will be a thread forecasting the weather. Make sure you check that out so you can pack accordingly.

In all honesty, at least this year.... TCU is better (at very least, faster) than anyone we'll face going forward and better than any
other B1G team not named MSU. I strongly believe if we had a good QB who could make even the most mundane FBS plays and throws
...we move the ball better, (albeit perhaps not a ton against TCU) but it would have kept our D off the field more and would have made
for a much better game, but....we have a terrible QB.

TCU should be well ranked by mid-season and we wish the best to ya.

Yeah but at least the PA and the band are on the same page. If the band is playing, the PA/piped in music is not. That was the most frustrating part of the TCU game (actual play not included) you could never hear the band.

Funny. I thought the TCU band was extra loud, especially compared to TCF.

I was sitting directly across the field from them though, so that helped.

Gophers stepped up in class and tried to run in a stakes race with much better colts on the field for TCU then we had on one side of the ball. The TCU defense kicked our offenses butt straight up, no amount of schemeing was going to change that outcome when your offense plays like a plowhorse and there's plays like an olympic sprinter and is making some nice one handed catches. The only Gopher that got a lot of work Saturday besides the defensive unit was the punter. It is never a good sign to turn the ball over 5 times and punt as much as the Gophers did.
Tough to shut out a team on defense when you keep having one arm tied behind your back with turnovers and constant pressure on the quaterback and your starting tailback playing with a gimpy wheel. Gophers just got flat out beat by the better team on Saturday, so hats off to TCU. Don't care what the fans think, this is the week to get healthy against SJSU and if a player is too hurt to play and can sustain another injury he should not play. We need to see the Gophers win, but style points are meaningless, this is about getting healthy and getting out of this weeks game with a win. There should be more film on SJSU so more to gameplan than they had last week, not an excuse but there will be more film to work with and gameplan. Let's turn the page and beat San Jose State. Learn from it and move on, there are still a lot of games left to be played with no outcome a given.
Go Gophers.
