He's now a 4-star recruit on Scout.com, ranked 26th at his position. (I know rankings are iffy, but good news is dot, dot, dot.)

Very good for Andre and the Gophers. Shaping up to be a pretty solid class. Replacing our two exiting guards with 2 new guards. Only question mark is that "true" PG. Maybe Mav will improve or something, but I am not too worried.

Plus the additions of Halvorson, Oto, and Eliason next year along with Devoe, Ralph, Colton, Trevor, Mo, Rodney etc. This team isn't looking too bad for the next few years.

Great work by Tubby, once again, for finding a player like Hollins before Scout and Rivals did. A lot of coaches will be wondering how Tubby found him and they didn't.

Irrelevant news.

For both Andre and the Gophers. Sorry guys, but who cares what he is ranked at this point? It has no bearing on his game or how much he will develop in maroon and gold. Gophers are committed to Andre and vice versa. That's all that matters here.

Looking forward to Andre coming to Minny though.

He cracked the Scout Top 100 at #100 also.

Not so fast my friend, any time your recruit receives positive attention, so does your program. Besides, whether it's relevant good news must be celebrated.

Hoffarber And Nolen Were 3-Star Recruits

Blake generally Top 100 to 150 range, Al lower than that.

Both are good Big 10 guards. Star ratings don't matter after HS.

The star rankings create buzz and is a media thing to create interest and all. Since they are a media thing I think they are off often. I think the coach’s poll is better than the AP poll when ranking teams since coachs know more than media in my opinion.
The thing about Al and Blake is they are way better now than when they came to the Gopher because Tubby is a great coach. New recruits should look at Al and Blake and say wow tubby made them into great players, I want to be a gopher too.

I am sure he moved up because of this:

Gophers' 6-foot-3 men's basketball signee Andre Hollins from Memphis, Tenn., scored a career-high 46 points but his White Station high school team lost to perennial national power Findlay Prep 70-65 Thursday night. "If he's not considered top 10 nationally now, he will be," Findlay Prep coach Michael Peck told the Commercial Appeal. "He is one of the best four players this program has ever faced, and I'd compare him to one of our best in Avery Bradley, who's now with the Boston
Celtics." Hollins, who is playing point guard, scored 33 points in a game last week.

When they go from 3* to 4* or 4* to 5* during the season has much to do about the player. I think that is when the * system shows it's maximum value. The kid has to be having a great season to show that kind a improvement. Good for him and good for the program. Start building that practice facility and lets keep this program on the rise.

ESPN likes Hollins and Coleman better than Rivals. ESPN Ranks Hollins 87th overall and Coleman 94th. I don't understand the ESPN point scale but both Hollins and Coleman were scored a 92 and the top recruit in the country scored a 98. Neither were in the top 100 recruits on Rivals.
