Whoever voted for Rutgers has some explaining to do. Remember, the last thing New Jersey brought us was Snooki.

For those of you with a short memory, here she is in action:

Nebraska. Storied football program, up and coming hoops, not really the heart of Big 10 country, but close enough for government work.

Neither.

But, of the most recent additions, Nebraska, hands down.

Dr. Don has that same mallard phone.

I agree with Missouri, plus they would have hated both Iowa and Nebraska more than us, so it would have been like adding an ally.

Rutgers really provides nothing. At least Maryland has a decent basketball program.

Has anyone scoped out the cheerleaders? That might be the tiebreaker.

It is a tie. Rutgers and Maryland are the best additions to the B1G in 2014. They will bring additional markets for advertising and selling our conference. We should welcome them, celebrate their arrival and feel fortunate some other conference didn't capture the population and ALL the potential subscribers they bring. They also bring new recruiting territory. States like Nebraska, iowa, Indiana, wisky and yes, Minnesota have very limited population bases in which to mass-produce "fantasy four and five star high school recruits in size, speed and number. Our conference also suffers from the "rust-belt" blues and economic anemia in Michigan, PA, Illinois and Ohio. The Big Apple proximity affect and the "belt-way, politics as usual hype, hope and hustle will bring some new-found energy to our lethargic as of late image on the national football scene.

I have no "hate" to practice on our new opponents. However, I would like some of you foolish posters to consider just how foolish and stupid your attempted put downs of Maryland and Rutgers really appear to any reader with any common sense. Can my Golden Gophers beat these two teams in a football game? There are some jerks who question whether my Golden Gophers should still be in this conference based upon their record against conference foes during the past few years...the past 25 years...the past half century...

Welcome Maryland and Rutgers. We need them...and they need us. Perhaps we will compete well with them and they will compete well with us. Is a University of Minnesota fan in ANY kind of position to mock and make light of any other football school that has received an invitation to join the conference that continues to include our beloved U of M. Take a good look at what we bring to the table before you knock our two newest HONORABLE Member Schools. They are a part of OUR Conference and we are a part of their Conference. Have a little class, humility and honesty people and a HUGE dose of reality. And, until we can beat one or both of these fine conference member schools at least ten times in succession, keep the trash-talk down and let's just play the games and see which teams win and which teams lose the conference football games.

Why should anyone not named Jim Delaney care if they bring in new TV markets? I don’t understand how fans manage to convince themselves that it is a positive. And that is all they bring. They aren’t going to help the Big Ten win their bowl games against the SEC or gain this conference that national respect that it once had which is all that really matters to me and should be the only thing that matters to the fans, boosting the prestige of this conference.

It is a tie.....blah, blah, blah....my Golden Gophers....blah, blah, blah....B1G wins...blah, blah, blah....

First off walrus, wren, or whatever; part of a rivalry is having a healthy dislike for the opponent. We can't all go to the middle of the field and have a group hug like you're suggesting. They politely shake hands and then it's war.

Claiming someone else being a foolish poster, I really think you need to look in the mirror. Your fascination with everything Glen Mason is strange. You can't live in the past. Between your bashing prexys, ADs, coaches (except for Mason), and your fascination with only B1G games is really borderline crazy. Remember when you blamed the housing crisis on Brewster? That was both classic and strange.

Anyway, I think you need to sit back and enjoy the upcoming season without grumping, whining and writing diatribes. It would be great if you voted in this poll. Rutgers and Maryland need to prove themselves. Right now, they're picked to finish at or near the cellar in the B1G. It doesn't sound like anyone is respecting them right now - I think they need to earn it first. Until then, I think they'd appreciate a little good humored ribbing. Those fan bases are nasty and will be dishing it out in double helpings.

You are a dense one rescooter. The "subprime" joke was just a fun little thing, oh foolish one. And, for a team that plays in this B1G Conference what the hell else matters than the B1G Conference games? Games with the directional nobody teams only matter if they end up being losses.

And when the hell did I bring up Mason? You brought up Mason. What a bunch of b.s. you are trying to sling rescooter. I stand by what I said in my post today. Welcome Maryland & Rutgers. I will apologize for the rude behavior of this rescooter character and the others of his ilk.
