Thanks for posting that. It's refreshing to hear a sitting coach actually say he talked to other schools as opposed to announcing he's taking a job a day after saying he "never talked to anybody".

Well that's the most solid information we've gotten on anything to date.

I do think we could do a lot worse than Brady Hoke. At the same time, I'd been holding out some small sliver of optimism that we'd get one of the big 3.

Hoke has three years left on his SDSU contract after this season. To end his SDSU contract, the buyout now is $1.5 million, but that buyout is scheduled to decrease to $1 million after Dec. 15.

If Hoke ends up being the guy, this could be why Maturi was putting it out there that a hire would be announced "closer to the holidays." Waiting another 7-10 days could save them $500K. As long as they would trust a "handshake," I could see it being worth the wait to save a decent amount of cash.
