So, for fun, let's assume the recent speculation is correct and the three "finalists" are Brady Hoke, Al Golden and Troy Calhoun. Of those three, who do you want to see get the job?

Count my vote for Hoke.

I'm all for Hoke, though I do like Calhoun as well.

Golden in a landslide. I want nothing to do with the other two.

Of the three in this poll;

1. Hoke
2. Calhoun
3. Golden

Mullen would still be my first choice.

1. Golden
2. Calhoun
3. Hoke

I can think of many others I'd rather have than these 3 though. Myself included. I don't think I'd do a very good job, but I could handle the 2.5 million dollars a year. They would give me at least a 2 year grace period to realize I was a horrible coach, when I could just blame it on "Brewster's recruits". I figure I would take in at least 5-7 million dollars in the deal.

If it is in fact down to those 3, I'd rate them in this order.

1. Golden
2. Hoke
3. Calhoun

Hoke for me. Golden coming here for 2 years and then bolting for PSU is the last thing we need. Plus I prefer SDSU's offense.

If not Belotti or Leach, I would be very happy with any of these three. I posted links to some press conferences each of these three have done in another thread and my own amateur psycho analysis of each is as follows:

Calhoun is the nice guy that people here in MN would like a lot. I think he would be very similar to Mason in that he would be great at recruiting the middle-tier guys and developing them for his system. That said, I can't imagine him going into inner city Chicago/Dallas/Miami and winning those kids over. Of course, that could be what his assistants are for, but I just think he would appeal to a niche of athletes. Not saying that is a good or bad thing, but just my assessment. I also think Calhoun would be well-liked by the local media because he does seem very intelligent, and again, just a good person.

Golden and Hoke seem to be both guys that could draw all-types of kids, from just about anywhere. They both come across to me as being a little more fiery, a little more brash, but not, to me anyway, in an overbearing way (as Brew did to some).

I'm not comparing the two in any way professionally, but personality-wise, for some reason, Hoke comes across to me as almost like a young Bill Parcells, but a little less confrontational.

As I've stated before, I like all three. I think Hoke and Golden have higher ceilings, but what do I know.

I think all three are good, solid coaches. I would have no problem with any of them being our next coach.

What kind of offense do they run

I am know what Calhoun runs but not clear on Hoke and Golden.

I really like Calhoun ...smart guy and would be a change from slick talkin Brewster

It appears the three are pretty even here. I voted for Calhoun but I think all three would be good hires.

Sports Illustrated says all three are hot prospects. I'd tend towards Hoke because this would be his third head coaching job, and I think you learn a little bit more with each new experience.

Hoke.
He has turned around two terrible programs, and has made them competitive with athletically superior teams. Plus he can coach D. Too many people are focused on the type of offense these candidates run, but O hasn’t been the problem around here, occasionally stopping someone has

That has pretty much been the problem with Hoke's teams as well.

Maybe I'm just falling in love too much with Calhoun having some success at a program where success does not come easy, but I think he is the guy!
