No passing game and a non-explosive running game. I am curious to see if Nelson gets any better in the next couple of years because he has looked awful after the Purdue game. Limegrover's playbook is predictable at best. At least in the Mason era they were fun to watch on offense even when they lost. This brand of football is like watching paint dry. Whoever we play in the bowl its going to be ugly.

The Gophers have scored more points than they did last season, just in case you want to edit the title of your post.

Yeah 17 points per game in the B10 season is wonderful. That includes a 44 point with Purdue. Take that game out and we scored 13 ppg. Like I said even in Mason's down years we still scored on offense and put up more than 99 total net yards.

As noted elsewhere, 96 yards total offense today. Can't remember a total like that ever (???).

No one said or implied that the points scored are wonderful. If you want to see a historically bad team, the 1991 team was historically bad. That team only scored 104 points all season long. The Gophers only scored more than 13 points twice during the entire 1991 season, and only once in Big Ten play. And the 2012 Gophers have outscored the 2011 Gophers. Yes, the offense is bad, I'm not denying it. But historically bad, no.

They are not historically bad, considering straight stats. But it is hard to fathom feeling less confident in an offense than that which suited up at the end of this season. They appear completely hapless. Outside of the Purdue game, we have appeared downright abysmal on O, including in our win over Illinois. We are physically overmatched, and our timing is off. Worse, it is appropriate to question our play calling at this point in the Kill (Limegrover) era.

Next year we lose our one big-play threat right now - Marquies Gray. He's the only one on the squad currently that can break off a 75-yard run and house it. I'm hopeful we'll see some guys step up to the plate next year and provide a spark for an offense that sorely needs it. It's on the coaching staff to fix the timing/accuracy issues, and any improvement on this in our bowl matchup would be a welcome positive step.

Go Gophers!

2-6 in B1G. FIRE DEM ALL!

Wisconsin only ran for 19 yards against MSU so its not unheard of. But this was troubling. Just an embarrassment offensively.

Our offense is offensive. No playmakers.

The scary thing to me is I don't see the future playmakers anywhere on the field either. Nelson looks OK at QB, McDonald maybe can be decent at receiver. Kirkwood and Williams look like solid but not spectacular backs. Consistent play on the O-Line will help but I don't see a lot of playmakers at the skill positions on this roster.

Of course we played six ranked teams in 1991. This year we played a pathetic schedule. This offense is the worst I've ever seen since I started watching gopher football in 2002.

UW ran for 560 the next week against Indiana proving that it was the MSU D and not just an off day that was responsible for that number.
