are starting tonight. Section 3AAAA has 4 teams that arguably in the top 10 in the state, in Eastview, Eagan, Lakeville South and Apple Valley. Rumor has it that Lakeville South conceded the 3rd seed in the section to Apple Valley so it could play it's crosstown rival, North, in the first round. South would have played Burnsville, who they beat by about 25 Friday, had they not conceded the 3rd seed. Should be a great game down at Lakeville South tonight as that rivalry is always awesome. Just last week, the North hockey beat the highly favored South team in the section finals in 3 OT's to make the state tournament. The four winners tonight will meet in a great section semifinal at St. Olaf on Saturday night.

I've watched all the South Suburban Conference teams more than once this year. LS is the favorite tonight, but North could definitely pull the upset. North had a very good second half of the season after starting 1-8. They beat Eastview a few weeks ago and Apple Valley after Tyus came back from action. They actually had Apple Valley beat a few weeks ago before they fell apart at the end of the game. There are a few big stars in the section, with Joey King at Eastview, Alex Richter at South, and Jones and Schalk at Valley. Eagan might not have a player who is as big of a star as those teams, but in my opinion, they are probably the best team in the section, although all of those teams are very close.

No, Lakeville South did not concede the 3rd seed.

South had a better record in the section, conference, overall and split with Apple Valley. They beat Apple Valley by 20, granted without Tyus, and lost to them late in the year by 3. I don't now by what basis Apple Valley would have been seeded higher than South. I went to the game tonight and South ended up winning by about 10. It was a 3 point game though with a minute and a half remaining and South hit the foul shots. North went 3-10 in the first half from the foul line, and played without their 6'6 starting forward Tyler Flack who is a serious athlete. It was a very good high school game and sets up great section semifinals with Eastview/South and then Eagan/Apple Valley. All four teams are very equally matched, but I'm predicting an Eagan vs. South matchup in the final.

Actually I just saw that Rosemount beat Eagan tonight. Eagan lost their last game to Kennedy which cost them the conference title and the number 1 seed in the section. Eastview ended winning by 61 tonight so Eagan's loss last Friday night was really big. I wasn't at the coaches meeting last Saturday, but I was told by someone pretty close to the situation that South had the choice of the 3rd or 4th seed and the choose to be the 4th seed so they could play North. If that was the case, I'm sure they are kicking themselves, because instead of playing Eastview on Saturday they would be playing Rosemount.

Going into tonight's game, Rosemount was 3-19 since Christmas and at the bottom of the league along with Prior Lake and Jefferson. I'm shocked they beat Eagan.

Anyone know if tickets are being sold in advance or at the door this weekend at St. Olaf? How much?

This was the 3rd 1 possession game against Eagan since christmas. They lost to apple valley by less than 5 last week.

Rosemount is the post al Nolen gophers of high school basketball. Of their 6-19 record, 15 losses were by less than 10. 10 losses were 2 possession games or closer.
