Hewitt Declines St. Johns

Wouldn't surprise me. I get the sense he wanted to go, his wife and kids didn't. You know who usually wins those arguments. Billy Donvan isn't coaching in the NBA for the same reason.

Does anyone remember what it was like before cell phones, computers, or the internet?

Man. News travels fast.

Ok. Well hopefully it appears that one is dead.

I could see Tubby going to Oregon about as much as I could have seen him coming to Minnesota. :D

Next!

This can't be right.

Moron Metcalf said...

Sooohan has sources...

The Viking b@ll-licker who screams on the radio heard from someone...

Tubby's best friend in the world created a username and told us that Tubby hated it here and is looking to go to GT.

This is all wrong.

I really did get a laugh out of this tweet ..

disgusted by the NY media. The "rumors" and conflicting stories are getting out of hand. No one cares who was first to report it.

I guess we're not called the Minneapple for nothing.

And HE'S QUOTED. I am waiting for someone to disregard those quotes like they do with Tubby.

By "HE" I assume you're talking about Hewitt. I'm sure some will disregard his quotes ... and rightfully so. He interviewed with another school. How much more do you need to realize that he's willing to leave if the conditions are right? Maybe it's true that now that he has looked around he concluded that in the long run he'll be happiest at GT. But you have to take his comments about commitment to GT with at least one grain of salt.

I have a question for you. Do you generally not believe what coaches say? The reason I ask is because you stated that you didn't believe Tubby when he said he wasn't a candidate for any other jobs and now you state that you don't believe Hewitt (paraphrasing). As such, I'm wondering if you believe them at all? Or is it just when it comes to job prospects?

I'm just saying their words don't fit their actions. If you believe Hewitt when he says he's committed to Georgia Tech, that's fine. But he interviewed with and seriously considered moving to another school. I simply have a different definition of commitment.

I never said -- and I don't believe -- that Tubby is lying. I'm just saying that his statement about not being "a candidate for any jobs" leaves a lot of room for interpretation. Whereas some people read that as though it should end all speculation, I just didn't. It's the kind of thing coaches say when they're keeping their options open. Whether Tubby said it with that in mind or not, I have no idea.

Blizzard, as a matter of fact, I remember when the three fastest modes of spreading gossip were, in no specific order...telephone, telegraph, and telewoman. :)

It took me a second to get the joke there. I think the latter is still one of the most efficient. Neck and neck with the internet. It depends who you want it spread to.
