We made the trip out to the Big House for the second straight year. We really had a great time last year and were treated great by the fans(invited to tailgate with several groups and did). We were lined to hear their band play their fight song on the plaza right before they enter the stadium. There was man around age 70 who had the look of a well heeled alum all decked out in Michigan gear standing with his son and his 5-7 year old grandson. He turned around and seeing my Minnesota shirt, turns his grandson around and pointing to me says, see him, "he's a loser." I controlled my urge to say to the kid, "see your grandfather, he's an a..hole." What a great role model. It made the rush down to the corner of the end zone at the end of the game even sweeter. The vibe of the weekend was akin to a spoiled child pouting about not getting their way. It was awesome watching their fans stream out in the third quarter and hear them boo their team at halftime. They are in full meltdown mode in Ann Arbor and can't believe it is happening because to use the phase I heard over and over, "we're Michigan."

"Pride comes before the fall."

Mark Dantonio saw it (coming) and said it 7 years ago.

I would have had a hard time holding back a snarky comment about the hilarity right now of people from metro Detroit branding others as losers, but that's just me.

To me, the best way to come back to a snarky comment is smile and move on. Let the snark feel his own pain.

Not for booing the team. Jeez, just a bunch of college kids. The grandpa? Pretty sad.

A$$hole parents raise a$$hole kids.

Go Gophers!!

Wow. That's easily and by far the worst thing I've heard so far on the topic of Michigan fans' treatment of Gopher fans. My crew and I were there as well, and were basically ignored or treated very respectfully by the Michigan faithful. It felt like going to a Northwestern game, but with 10x more people there ignoring you.

We also heard from several folks the night before that they 'hoped Michigan would lose' and 'Go Gophers' from Michigan fans who want Hoke and Brandon gone.

I've been to Michigan a few times for football and hockey and they were always decent to my group. Some good natured ribbing, but nothing out the norm.

This is quite fitting.

In my one trip to the Big House several years ago we had the same experience of being ignored. We didn't receive any snarky comments but at the same time no one seemed to care that we made the trip. Better than WI or IA but not fan friendly like Nebraska, Ill and other places we have visited.

One of my favorite things was hanging out with opposing fans at Sally's. Ohio St was always great. Those people came to party and have fun. Wisconsin's were always drunk and trying to provoke something. Michigan's fans were stuck up and condescending. Acted like they were country club and we weren't.
I'm enjoying seeing them struggle.

I feel bad as a parent b/c my kids will sometimes asks me who hates iowa, and I calmly reply we do, we hate iowa.

Why feel bad? My son was brought up that way and he still does. Be a proud father.

Got some friends who went to Michigan State. They say the same thing about Michigan Alum.

My father is an MSU alum. Naturally, he despises Michigan, but he's always described Michigan fans as arrogant, but classy. He's been to a lot of games at the Big House and says the fans have never been a problem, both before and after the time MSU started gaining the upper hand on the football side of things. They've had a much more difficult time with their Ohio State experiences.

Just don't get him started on Desmond Howard, Mike Hart, Taylor Lewan, or, on the basketball side, the Fab 5.

One thing I am impressed with...We don't see any of our Gophers pulling Jameis Winston crap.

I actually have to give props to the Michigan fans. Very good to me and my family. Have nothing but zgood things to say about them. Not a single bad word and plenty of compliments sent our way.

Go back ten years.......who'd have guessed that the Lions were going to be more competitive than the Wolves?

Ditto those who said they felt more ignored than anything else. My group bought our tickets from a Mich season ticket holder, and we were honestly a bit nervous we'd be sitting right in the middle of a hornet's nest. We had a great time (obviously), and nobody said a word to us before, during, or after the game. We ran into a few fans around town on Friday, and the few who acknowledge us were very complimentary and welcomed us to town. Color us pleasantly surprised.

I continue to be amazed at how some fans truly believe they are better than others or even "more of a man" because of the team they cheer for.

Words to describe myself: apathetic, sarcastic, pessimistic, narcissistic. An awesome combination of traits that's makes me better than everybody else.

One shouldn't judge an entire fan base on the behavior of one jerk. Hopefully the on field results impeached grandfather's credibility in the eyes of his grandson.

My trio also was treated great by the Michigan fans and also invited to tailgate, offered food and drink, and received many positive comments when folks in Maize and Blue saw our Gopher garb. Several compliments on our Jerrysota shirts. There has always been an arrogance at Michigan, which must make many lives miserable with the stretch they are enduring.

+100. It's like a disease that permeates sports nowadays. It's all over the place.

Maybe it had nothing to do with you being a Gopher fan. Were you wearing Zubaz? Jorts and a mullet?
