With the abandonment of amateurism in the 2020s the supercharging of bribes was inevitable but also brings into question why the TT boosters didn’t conform to the bags of cash legend earlier and only got into the game after NIL. Maybe the advent of the larger playoff and unlimited transfers widens the aperture for a successful “investment”. I don’t know.

If parity is the goal gonna have to divert a lot more revenue to football and lessen the impact of outside boosters but that’s probably impossible. There is no way to police NIL outside of the “honor system” as we’re seeing. Sero nimirum sapere caepit.

I fought for amateurism (metaphorically) for years but now that it’s over and dead I’m all in on letting the free market do its thing. The revenue sharing limits, transfer rules need to be ripped out as horrendous antitrust violations to help force the eventual formation of a regulated league with real enforcement teeth. Only need to find attorneys and/or players willing to find a lucrative angle. I’d guess it won’t be long.
