Is anyone else getting sick of the Heisman Trophy. Every year I am getting more convinced that this is one of teh most over-rated award in all of sports. I hate how the media kept hyping it up saying last weekend whoever played the best out of Tebow, Ingram, or McCoy was going to win the award. I thought this was basically for the best player for the entire year, not the player that played the best in the conference championship game.

Sorry for the rant, I am just so sick of the media needing that clear cut front runner.

Yeah, i don't even pay attention. It's always some RB or QB who has a great offensive line. Why not just give an award to the team with the best line. But most of these types of things bring positive coverage to the sport. For that I can live with it.

The "Bowl Challenge Cup" is the silliest award is college football. But the Heisman has become a complete joke as well.

The Heisman is becoming quite the popularity contest and more like a career award. Screw the stats for a season, let's just look at what the player has done over his 4 years (career records, past heisman's won, etc). If you couldn't tell, this is directed at Mr. Tebow. I can't stand the guy.

Heisman has turned into the BCS MVP award.

Heisman

The Heisman has been a joke for a number of years. Giving out career achievement awards (Ahem...DAYNE) is not a true representation of the most outstanding player in a given season. However, they have a chance to redeem themselves this year. Just by inviting House of Spears, they have my attention. But to truly bring credibility back to the award, they need to give it to him. GIVE THE FAT KID HIS TROPHY!

I will continue to think the Heisman, like baseball's MVP*, is the most overrated and least thought-out individual award in history until a Gopher wins it again--then I'll think it's great!

* I now think it's great!

So the Heisman that Tebow won, during his sophomore year, was a career award? Interesting. I would've thought that you had to have, you know, a career to have a career award. He won it after having started for one season.

Highway, I was thinking the same thing. Wait until a gopher is nomiated or given the Heisman Trophy, then people will not think it is a joke.

Well, I meant it as a career award because of all the hype that the media has given him throughout the year even when he was not a legit candidate. Yes, it had to be given to him his sophomore year because of his outstanding season, but this year? For people to say if he plays well in the SEC championship game, then he should win it, I call BS. It's a season award, not a one game award. Gerhart, Suh, and Ingram are all better candidates. Should he be in discussion? Of course, he's a dominant player. Should he win it again? Nope.

Well, some of us will, but we'll be glad that at least once the joke's on us.
