3/4 of the way through our schedule and we're sitting at 6th in the conference! Two extremely winnable games coming up in Rutgers and wisconsin and a big opportunity against Penn State.

Yeah, we dropped two games we shouldn't have. That's ancient history, let's look forward. This season can potentially end as the second best we've seen under Fleck's tenure. We could land a really good bowl against a traditional power opponent, which is way beyond what was expected coming into the season according to the prognostications and a lot of our feelings (particularly after the Iowa game).

How are we feeling now, folks?

I think two things stick out to me and both are a credit to PJ. He has managed the portal super well and plugged holes where we needed them, for example, quarterback and cornerback. Frankly, he has always done pretty well in the portal. Secondly, while I occasionally still worry about his ability to process information on game day and his overall propensity to run the ball up the middle, his game plans and willingness to open up the offense has been super refreshing. 16, 1, 9, 11 and to an extent 86 (hold onto the ball) are really fun to watch.

Just once in oen of these games where we are up 3 or 4 with 4 minutes to, a long 45 yeard TD PASS. Yes. PASS.

Go for the throat.

I'm not opposed but also Max has not shown that is in his bag with any amount of reliability.

Most of our deep shots have been "keep them honest" throws when the opposing safety has shown a propensity to hassle our WRs on medium depth throws. I would not want to see a deep Max throw with a safety floating around back there ... those passes have been off enough that a safety would eat up those passes for sure.

Max's higher percentage skill throws have been more mid-range and super effective. Some of his TD passes have been impossible to defend.

I agree with you. To build on that, when Max has thrown those "keep them honest" passes, he seems to place the ball in spots where if our guy isn't catching it, the defender isn't either. He seems to read coverage really, really well.

Enthusiasm needle has swing back to positive but let’s be honest this is a week to week thing for most fans. Gotta finish strong. Knock off a good team like PSU and it will ping the meter. Beat Wisconsin, same.

As far as postseason aspirations that ship has sailed. Bowls are not quite as meaningful these days, players transferring out, sitting out has kind of killed that for me TBH although we’re all going to flip the tv on.

Yeah they certainly seemed like very carefully calculated bombs rather than just chucking it. Landed harmlessly.

We determined chili/ chili polls are dead. We all know that is what did our Gophers in last season.
