Leidner completed 65 percent of his passes (26 of 40) for 301 yards in a 48-25 loss to the Cornhuskers. After the bye week, he completed 48.5 percent of his throws (16 of 33) for 317 yards in a 29-26 loss to Michigan.
They were the first consecutive 300-yard passing games for a Gophers quarterback since Cory Sauter did it in 1995. Up next is top-ranked Ohio State (8-0, 4-0 Big Ten) Saturday night in Columbus, Ohio.
It's a tall task, but Zebrowski said Leidner is as healthy as he's been since the start of the season. The quarterback struggled early because of an undisclosed injury that limited his mobility, which Zebrowski said was at its worst during a 27-0 loss to Northwestern on Oct. 3.
"I just felt bad for the kid because I know he's giving everything he's got, and it looked like he couldn't go very fast," Zebrowski said.
But against the Wolverines and their top-ranked defense, Leidner was able to burst past safety Delano Hill on a 24-yard touchdown off a read-option keeper.
"Being as healthy as I've been, it's a lot easier to make some athletic reads off that type of thing," said Leidner, who has a rushing TD in three straight games.
Against Michigan, the Gophers tied a season high with 14 offensive plays netting 10 or more yards. The Gophers had 14 vs. Nebraska on Oct. 17, but seven came after they trailed by 24 points in the fourth quarter.
The Gophers have produced plays of 10 or more yards in the penultimate or final drives in four games this season. The Gophers put themselves into position to tie or beat Michigan by driving 72 yards in 13 plays to inside the Wolverines' 1-yard line in the final five minutes...
