3. Moving the chains hasn’t been an issue for Minnesota this season.

Through four games, the Golden Gophers are averaging 26 first downs per game, second best in the Big Ten. Iowa ranks 13th in the Big Ten with its average of 17.6 first downs per game.

4. Coach Kirk Ferentz labels consistency as Iowa’s biggest issue as it prepares for Minnesota.

“All 11 guys being where they’re supposed to be on a given play, and then you have to execute the fundamentals,’’ Ferentz said. “We’re not clicking on all cylinders, obviously.’’

5. Golden Gophers coach Tracy Claeys believes Saturday’s 11 a.m. battle for Floyd of Rosedale will be settled where it usually is — in the trenches.

“We’re healthy, have our guys back on the D line. They’re healthy. If you look at the game, that’s who wins it, whoever controls the line of scrimmage,’’ Claeys said. “That’s why you play the game, our best versus their best and whoever wins up front will play a big part of whether we win the game or not.’’
