Badger fans make fun of our coach. Luke Fickell is completely boring. Wow. If I were on an opposing coaching staff, I would show this to my team first, then break it down like the pure comedy gold it is. I might even mix in the speech from the youtube baseball coach from 2016, the hits dingers guy, and a mash up Angel beach High coaches and Buela saying have you seen this prick movie clip. I mean this speech right here is meant to be mocked with comedy right behind it. I would have the end of Fickells speech, then add in the Steiner Math Genetic freak promo, a few shots of my team kicking Wisconsins ass, and then the Song from Creed the can you take me higher song. I mean this speech is meant for a comedy mash up.

This is a good post, right? And as the season keeps going, we're going to need more good threads and posts, right? Because mocking our rivals is an important part of college football, right? That's culture, that's how we hold ourselves accountable, right?

I'm being satirical here and mocking the guy's speech.

Well yes, mocking our rivals is part of what makes sports fun. I doubt many of us genuinely wear a shirt that reads "I just hope both teams have fun."

I also wonder if because we are so used to Fleck being at level 11, that other coaches who are level 4 or 5 seem sleepy.

As a veteran of the military I've definitely listened to my fair share of boring AF speeches/lectures. This was right up there with the worst of them. The substance of his message is fine, but there's nothing to keep you engaged. Kinda like Great Expectations on audio book. Ugh. Kinda wanna use my old trick of putting a dab of Purell hand sanitizer on my hands and taking a whiff of that to stay awake for a few minutes.

Picture this: You are the Wisconsin athletic director who hired this guy. You sold it as a home run hire.

How well are you sleeping these days?
 

If he can coach he can coach. Speeches like these are whatever the problem is I'm not sure he can coach.
 

Keep in mind this is probably the opening speech of the season....he's been doing this awhile. Nobody has told him he's really bad at this? Or has he improved?
He did work nasty into the last sentence. Prior to that he kept losing points deep into the minus scoring levels..

I don't have a big problem with what he said. He is not a gifted orator, obviously. Like others have written, that speech a part of coaching, but if he wins (big), which he has not, it will not matter. I understand that Wacker could give pep talks with the best of them, and that didn't work out so well. Thankfully the season starts in a month. Go Gophers!
