I am just wondering if Rodney was guarenteed something by tubby. I would guess a majority of fans would rather see chip out there to start, with Hollins playing sf. I wonder why not. Don't other coaches bench someone (Weber) to get them to play harder???

Good question...same with Sampson over the past few years.

Regarding Rodney, I haven't seen a single thing in the past 10-15 games that warrants him starting over anyone else.

Agree on Rodney. I have been a huge supporter of his throughout his career here, but last night was maybe his worst game as a Gopher. It felt like he had about 6 turnovers.

Ralph, on the other hand, I disagree with. He is just fine as a starter and because he isn't "tough" people act like he is not skilled. He has the second best offensive game of anyone on the team (Blake is first) the best fundamental post game on the team. The second best jump shot on the team. Tied for best shot blocker on the team and his back up is Colton Iverson. Who would you start????

I think this is an exactly wrong take on the situation. Two of the guys with the most potential are RSIII, and RW, they will not get better on the bench. If he does not play them, who is he going to develop in their place. If he plays them he at least has the chance to correct them, fi they ae on the bench they are neither motivated or learning. I have some big criticisms of Tubby with this team, expecailly regarding point guard recruiting, but this is not a guy I believe will ever promise minutes, if anything he probably loses guys, like Devoe, on that issue.
A good coach plays for next year as well.

+1...as much as I am annoyed by his lack of aggression and physicality at times...RSIII is clearly our second best offensive player and best inside defender. Plus...Colt has been atrocious as of late...wish Mo hadn't gotten hurt...he would be getting big minutes behind RSIII.

Rodney Williams is Gerald Green II and at some point he has to take his rightful spot on the bench.

Potential? What does that even mean?

RSIII is a few weeks away from being a Senior (basketball experience-wise) and Williams is almost 1/2 way through his college career. At some point you have to stop saying "potential" or "give him time to develop" and call it what it is. Disappointing.

Yeah. It's so confusing. Maybe if someone would use it in context I could understand....

Art Vandelay: "Last Friday, Wisconsin was a "waning" overrated program on the decline. By Saturday afternoon they were easily a NYD Bowl squad with top 10 potential and "we only lost by 3" Which is it folks? Can't have it both ways." http://www.forums.gopherhole.com/boards/showthread.php?t=9358

Thanks Badger Vandelay. I think I understand what the word potential means now. I love how you used it to reference your Badgers and mock Minnesota fans all in the same post.

Sampson ha some pretty frustrating plays around the basket where if he just went the hoop stronger he would score and/or draw a foul. BUT, he also is a good shooter (for a big guy) and a good passer. He is also a pretty strong defensive presence. He gives us a lot over what another player taking his position might produce. Colt is a decent backup, but his offensive game is nowhere near RSIII's.

RW has no such redeeming qualities as of late. I would rather see a 3 guard lineup with Hoff, Armelin and Hollins over RW starting.

People are confusing not starting someone with not playing someone. I am saying sit them to start the game to send a message. Did anyone see Weber sitting McCamey! Do you think it was a coincidence he played great. Wow read a post don't just filter it to your needs.
