People talk about him passing, but he's thrown the ball way more than he's handed off. He needs to do this as well. I have a hard time believing the end pinches in every time. Just sayin'

We better see him early and often if we are to have a chance in this one...his athleticism allows him to keep the ball no matter what the end does....an effective zone read is really our only shot tomorrow at keeping this one close. Their lines will dominate, w/o questions, their secondary is much better than our receivers, and our qb play has been beyond bad. ...the IA secondary is way too good to allow Weber the play action drop back pass; Gray must have a big game, but to do that, he has to play, and play a lot, which given past history is very unlikely-but here's hoping

Yes and the running back got minimal yards. I haven't seen him do it again since.

Can you blame the kid for not handing it off on the zone read? This has to be his thought process: I can either hand it off and go stand on the sideline OR run myself, use my superior athleticism, and then go stand on the sideline.

Made an addition that seems true given the limited number of snaps he's seen. :)

I actually wonder if it is a design QB run. I think the coaches do want him carrying the ball, and the rest of the stuff is just part of the play to make it happen.

I can't believe he is that bad reading a DE/OLB.

Yes, it is a coaching decision. It's the dreaded pre-snap read. And I understand why he wants to use a pre-snap read on a play that is only going to be run three times a game. But the zone read needs to be run repeatedly because sooner or later MarQueis will see daylight and it'll be 6 points.

C'mon Brewster. You've got nothing to lose by being aggressive. Even if it doesn't work people will be impressed by your willingness to gamble in an attempt to win the game. Remember what Gray did against Ohio State in his ONLY drive of the season.
