I haven't seen a word written or spoken from our head coach since the regular season ended. No updates from anyone and no comment. I find this odd. If he wants to make like the seizures r just part of the deal then he should carry on in that manner. Is there another team in the country going to a bowl who's coach has been silent since their last regular season game?

I've been wondering the same thing. He didn't film the Gophers Football Weekly show for FSN (not sure what day they shoot that), nor did he do his press conference which usually occurs on Tuesdays.
Gopherlady, have you heard anything from, or about, Coach Kill. I hope he's okay.

Given that reports were he was not hospitalized it does seem a little odd that we have not heard from him at all and he was absent from the banquet as well.

This is one of those weeks where there is not a lot going on with the football team, no practice, and you don't know who your opponent is yet so maybe they are trying to take things really slow but it is unusual for the head coach to be out of the spotlight for this long. I believe there was something mentioned about one of his daughters being at Mayo so could be connected to that or this could have been a particularily nasty seizure for him that is requiring a longer layoff, either way it has the feel of more going on than what is being reported. But that is just my opinion and not based on any fact of any kind so it could just as easily all be nothing.

I don't know about you naysayers, but to me no news is good news.

Oh well, kfan's on air schedule for the week still lists kill's radio show but its the common man now. Radio off.

I work at a radio station that carries the Kill show (on tape-delay). On Tuesday, the outfit that oversees the radio network sent out an e-mail stating that there would be no show this week - no reason given. They did say that they hope to do a special show in December when the Bowl Game opponent is decided.

I have to agree with "Some Day..." - the lack of any statement, or public appearance is a concern. Like it or not, there are real questions about the health of a D1 FB coach, and some are questioning his ability to carry out his duties. I would think the PR department would want Kill out front and center - if not to answer questions directly, at least to give the impression that all is well and the Coach is on the job. The longer Kill is 'off the grid,' the more speculation there will be about his health - and during a key time of the year for recruiting. That worries me.

I hope Coach Kill is doing everything he can to get himself healthy. That said, I think it's really odd that he hasn't been out from a PR standpoint. You can't sell this as "not a big deal" and just a minor hiccup and have him cancel scheduled appointments that are part of the Gopher job. If 5 days after a seizure he is unable to carry out any of his duties as a football coach, it's a problem for the University.

Again, I am hoping that he does whatever it takes to keep him healthy, I just don't think this is a good sign.

Not to be an alarmist, but there have been reports of heavy saucer activity in the vicinity of 15th and 7th. Big Foot was recently sighted near University Village. Several paranormal events have been verified across campus. Mayans. The truth is out there.

I saw a sign on his office door..."Gone Fishin!"

Does anyone know for sure that he had actually been scheduled to do his radio show today? Seems likely that the radio show would end after the regular season.

It could be nothing, sure.

But when a radio station sends out a message two days in advance saying his radio program won't be broadcast this week even though it was on the schedule, it basically indicates that 'til now their expectation was that his radio program WOULD be broadcast this week, and now suddenly will not be.

That's definitely a thing that makes you go, "hmmm..."

Again - I work at a radio station that carries the show, and it was on the schedule for this week. The person in charge of affiliate relations for the radio network sent out an e-mail announcing that the show would not be held - contradicting an earlier e-mail that said there would be a show this week. That sure sounds like a cancellation to me.

Our coach has a known health problem. He had an episode related to that problem in his last public appearance (at the game). He has since cancelled a regularly scheduled radio address. There could be another explanation. Maybe the radio stations scheduled it assuming it would go on every week, and Kill decided not to do it because we got trounced by MSU and don't have an upcoming game for a few weeks yet. But I don't think expressing concern and wondering if his health problems are contributing to the cancellation is unreasonable.

probably sitting on the couch at home having a beer because the season is over and there is a few months before it cranks up again. Or its possible he is busier than hell dealing with recruiting, putting together a practice plan, having meetings reviewing the past season...the list is long. There is nothing going on we need to know about. When the bowls are announced, you'll here plenty. The other possibility is he could have been abducted by aliens from the planet football.

+1 I'm still wondeing if his disappearance has more to do with his daughter and whatever is going on with her then it does with his health. According to the stories I saw he left the stadium under his own power and was not hospitalized so to me that says he probably should have been ok to attend the banquet or do his TV show.

The fact that he has vanished without any real statements as to what is going on leads me to think it might have something to do with stuff he is just not confortable addressing with the media at this time. He has no issue talking about his condition but if it is related to a member of his family he may be far less likely to come out publicallly with what is going on. Asll specualation on my part but this is not standard opperating procedure with how a football program is run. Something is up but it might not be related to Kill.

Here is Today's On Air Schedule from KFAN, it certainly appears that there should have been the regularly scheduled show today. Was anyone listening to KFAN at Noon, just wondereing if anything was said about this. Seems strange that Limegrover or Claeys wouldn't just fill in for the show as they have previously too.

I don't think it is his daughter. From Chip's column on the 27th:

Kill also quietly has been dealing with difficult personal issues, including spending several nights at a local hospital with an ill member of his extended family.

"Extended family" probably doesn't mean his daughter, but either way I'm guessing this is the reason he has been MIA.

I was just curious if anyone had heard anything. I'm one that supports Coach Kill 100%. I'm also one that thinks his seizures aren't that big of a deal. I'm guessing he's just taking the week to get some much needed rest and maybe deal with some family issues.

What I'm surprised about is that there has been no mention, that I have seen, regarding how Coach Kill is doing, what he is doing, and why he hasn't been heard from. Not even a statement by a U official saying Coach Kill is taking this week to rest and spend time with his family before getting back to work for bowl preparations. At least something to let the fan base know what the heck is going on and how he is doing. I'm shocked no reporter has inquired and at least put a blurb out there. It's like our coach has gone into hiding and there's not even a statement as to why (other than logical guesses). It's just bizarre and unprofessional from a standpoint of an Athletic Department at a big time University.

Maybe he is sitting by the phone this time of year like Mason used to trying to get leverage for an extension.

He seems to want to be pretty private about his health and that of his family. I have no problem with it. The AD seems to be fine with it from his interviews.

What happened with Coach's daughter?!

Hum? Maybe then you don't need to say anything. Just saying.:cheer:

Very sensible concerns - PR counts for a lot these days.
