Happy 80th Birthday to the one and only @Patrick_Reusse! You know what they say, “We dress like those we admire.”

Oddly I was thinking of him today. He wrote Nebraska ran up the score 84-13 score because it was on the road and they could not bring the fourth string.
Was at that game. Nebraska's third string was far better than our first string. Rozier and Fryar were light years better than anyone on our team.

Hard to wish a guy a happy birthday due to all of his poorly written articles on the Gophers. However, I do believe in forgiveness. So Happy Birthday to you Pat and may you write positive letters and enjoy life.

While he has infuriated many on this website over the years (and at times I believe he purposely eggs Gopher fans on - just to see the reaction), some of his more "human interest" sports stories about various legacy players and teams are why I still enjoy his writing.

Happy birthday to the best ever Minnesota sports writer.
Best ever Minnesota sports writer? Not exactly a peak of greatness (at least from my familiarity starting in 1987).

I always saw him as a poor man's Scott Ostler. Ostler was a bit cranky, but he was direct, honest, fair, and not afraid to ruffle feathers when it was warranted.

I grew up reading him in the LA Times, and saw Reusse desired to be cut from the same cloth, but never quite got there.

Edit: oh, and happy birthday Patrick.

I like Pat. I have a lot of happy memories of Saturday Morning Sports Talk.
He and Joe talking about Sid still makes me chuckle.

Their bit on Sid “Setting up the Loss, while simultaneously providing a Ray of Hope”, was sports talk radio at its best and funniest.
