Grisly comments by Wisconsin Linebacker...

I'm hoping this is just a case of a young man using improper imagery. I'm guessing he meant it in the context that both teams were going to go out there and play their hearts out and leave everything on the field (also wording that I hate but that's what you get in these types of soundbites). For him to allude to injuring and maiming people out there would be beyond stupid.

He's a badger, of course he's beyond stupid.
Borland went low twice on Nelson last year, blatently trying to take out his knees.
I of course hope for a good clean game, but I have a feeling whatever dirty hits they deal us, Hageman and co will be more than happy to oblige back(without penalty of course)

JPP on game vs. Dallas upcoming this week: "It's going to be a fight. It's going to be a dogfight. There's going to be a lot of blood spilled out there."

who cares. its a phrase that gets used. quit reading into it

Judging from the context (NCAA football game and coming from a Badger player), he probably meant that the Badger's were going to crush the Gophers. "Bloodbath" is a pretty colloquial term that is used metaphorically all of the time. I have certainly never heard it used in reference to purposefully injuring players during a football game. So, lets not make something out of nothing. In my opinion, there is nothing wrong with his use of the word.

That being said, I really hope the Gophers finally turn the tables on Wisconsin this week.

I definitely don't think he's alluding to injuring someone. I think he meant to say it's going to be a good hard-fought game, but it came out more like "we're going to destroy them and have fun doing it."

Minny has been leaving opposing team players wounded on the field all season.

I guess it is appropriate they are wearing red

Why would anyone be bothered by this? It's a lot better than the old KG "it's going to be a war" and I could never understand why people got so wound up about that either.

I assume you're talking about me and I'm not wound up about it at all. Just didn't want people to quickly jump to "he's saying they're going to injure people out there". I do hate the 'it's going to be a war' out there. It's just so cliched. Something Jaw or Gruden would fumble out of their mouths and then sit back prideful of their command of the english language.

Not you per se. I just think it's a competitive kid saying something that really overstates the importance of this game in the whole scheme of the universe. Didn't mean to single anyone out.

Gruden speaks English?

Borland went down on Nelson last year!? This is not good.

Well, Hageman will be making sure that Stave gets fully acclimated to the TCF Bank turf by the end of the game on Saturday, so it's good!

I just assumed he meant that himself, along with a lot of his teammates, would be having their monthly visitors on game day.
