Nice to see the human side of the referees we see every night in the B1G, and on our television screens.

I still miss Steve Welmer, the happy-go-lucky big lefty. And even Ted Hillary, the crusty veteran who rarely smiled.

Of all the B1G referees, Valentine is low on the list of the ones who suck.

I've always liked TV Teddy's antics. He's a good ref to have when you're the home team. Hightower was the one I hated

Valentine is piece of work. I will alway fondly remember him tossing out B. Knight.
Jim Bain was the ref I loved to hate.
