Myron wrote a great piece on Damian and his off the court leadership today. It's one of those "only in your Sunday Star Tribune" exclusives so I can't provide the link yet (I think it will be available mid-week) but it talks about the big cliques on the team when Spencer/DC/LMac were seniors and how Damian has worked hard to make sure the older guys and younger guys all get along. It also talks about how Damian makes an extra effort to keep Royce and Trevor engaged in the program.

The article finishes with this quote from DJ:

"I think once me and (Westbrook) graduate, a lot of guys are gonna probably be sad about that," Johnson said, grinning. "Real sad, 'cause they gonna miss me, a guy like me."

Yes we will!

Go Gophers!!

Nice article and not surprising either. Damian came in and people wondered if he'd ever be any good. A Monson recruit, by the way, who stuck with the program even though he was buried, including a redshirt year. Shows what hard work and a little patience can do. (Keep this in mind, people who want to give up on Iverson - or any freshman or sophomore.)

Damian and his roommate and friend Westbrook will, indeed, be sorely missed next year. But the groundwork laid by those two, and the leadership they provided - and continue to provide - will be felt, hopefully, for years to come.
