We are getting terrible analysis on Grove on this board. Terrible. He is fluid and smooth. Very deceptive to people with low BB IQ. He is going to be another star player and a fit for the team. He is also a junior in HS and I think getting taller. He needs nutrition, strength, and conditioning. They all do. He gets the defensive rebound and goes coast to coast for the jam. If we have better Minnesota kids I hope we can get them too if they make our roster unbalanced again. BTW, I do not prefer a Minnesota player over better out of state e prospects. They are all prospects until they hit the court at the barn.
Sh!t. Now he's going to stink.

Why would you do this? You're never right about anything, this is the kiss of death.

I recall when Jon Leuer was not highly regarded as a junior. The Gophers didn't get in until late and his stock rose big time as a senior netting Wisconsin a terrific player. I think we have to give our coaches credit here and hope their bet is a winning one.
Leuer is a pretty good upside comparison to him (IMO). I think Reuvers biggest issue was probably a lack of toughness and I don't think that will be there with Grove. But he is probably not as skilled as Reuvers yet.

Welcome addition to the Gophers. Continue to shut down the boarders and Ben and PJ might end up with a few Big Ten Championships
What ever you are taking, please sell it. ain’t no way that Ben or PJ will win B1G championships. (plural)

He has some skills but Reuvers is so soft, he could get mugged in a phone booth all by himself.

Literally no one has ever advocated for filling the roster with Minnesota kids just because they are from Minnesota. The frustration with the prior regime was the program was bad and the coach seemingly let players that were good from Minnesota leave the state and contribute to winning teams. If the prior regime would have won, it wouldn't have been a talking point.

And it was the “secondary misses” on players like Roddy and Macura that really stung - we all understood missing on the Matthew Hurt’s , but Pitino seemed to not care/seemingly put much effort into the next level.

Ben has tried with most everyone from Minnesota and correctly backed off the one’s not genuinely interested (reportedly): Freitag & McAndrews.

If we didn’t get Asuma and Grove the same posters complaining about recruiting them, would be bitchin about not recruiting them.

For those who wonder, Ryan James posted his 247 analysis on 2024 Gophers Grove and Asuma at the Battle of the Lake's Shootout this past weekend.

Care to share?

A summary would be fine - if it’s a paywall deal - txs

Macura was Tubby's fault not Pitino's. Pitino recruited him after he was hired, but by then it was too late. Tubby didn't want him at all.

Roddy was just a unique prospect that no P6 schools offered until Nebraska and Minnesota came in late.

Yes sir I did. If he had an editor, or at least had someone proof read his posts, it would help greatly.

For sure. But he does stay on top of things like no one else I know of. It will interesting to read about Asuma & Grove's progression as they finish out their HS careers. Especially the D side.

RJ works his tail off and we're lucky to have someone like him covering MN grassroots basketball. What a needless negative comment, sheesh.
I'm kinda surprised there is not much Gopher basketball podcast content out there. Ryan James and Luke Buer record a couple podcasts per season but it feels like they could probably 4x their content output. I enjoy them when they come out. I don't mind listening to James but without trying to sound petty I really don't like reading his written content.

I tried listening to the Locked On podcast last year and was not impressed.

Are there any other interesting sources of Gopher news/analysis besides the Gopherhole?
