Some good news for Gopher fans, hopefully very bad news for the Wildcats.
MarQueis Gray's back injury is apparently no longer an issue.
And that could mean the junior quarterback who led the University of Minnesota to impressive performances against Iowa and Michigan State will continue to show progress Saturday for the Gophers (2-8, 1-5) at Northwestern.
Gray competed at full strength in practice Tuesday for the first time since before injuring his back while throwing for a career-best 295 yards and three touchdowns in a 31-24 loss Nov. 5 at Michigan State.
..." Gray said of his back. "I feel confident going into this week that I will have no pain. It just felt a lot better today. The training staff did a good job of making me come in and do therapy."
Gray said he was tentative playing against the Badgers because it was painful to run, even though he rushed 19 times for a team-high 68 yards.
"I kept getting this hot pain shooting through my leg," he said. "Now that I feel better, I don't have that tendency to think about it anymore. I'm just going to go out and play."
