I understand that people are excited about the upcoming season, but isn't this just a little ridiculous? The guy hasn't even started one game yet for the Gophers, and his actual passing ability is relatively unknown.

It is very early, but what is everyone's realistic expectation of MarQueis Gray this season in Kill's system?

At least he is excited about the opportunity...

I think unknown is about the right word. Talent-wise the sky is the limit for him. Whether he and the entire team can get in sync, and quickly, is another question.

I don't have a twitter account so I can't zoom in, but that picture of him passing looks like it's from warm-ups. Welp.

I have a twitter and am actually following. It isnt him who created the account, it is a fan. Some of the tweets are actually pretty funny.

There've been persistent rumors about his intelligence, which I hate. If he's smart enough to succeed in school, he's smart enough to be a successful QB. There seem to be no questions about his physical tools or desire, so I think he'll succeed.

I have no opinion what so ever on what your talking about but you have GOT TO blow that picture (avatar) up and send it to me!

He seems to say all the right things; you can't say he doesn't want to succeed at quarterback.

Realistic expectation is rather low. Maybe more of a 'running QB' than anything else. I don't think his arm is an upgrade over Weber's. I could be completely wrong, though.

My unrealistic expectation is exactly what that Twitter account stands for.

I would say that anything less than 2000 yards passing, 800 yards rushing, 25 combined tds would be a let down. And at least 6 wins.

I think he has to run for 1,500 yards at least. Maybe even the first 2,000 pass and rush guy ever.

I am surprised people will even try this after the Cupito for Heisman and Weber for Heisman campaigns fell short.

I really think that if there's going to be one surprise about Coach Kill's team this fall it's going to be how good MQ is. This guy is an exceptional talent and I think Coach Kill knows how to unlock it. And the biggest surprise could be his arm. No question he's going to make mistakes but he is such a dangerous weapon to opposing coaches that a lot of things could open up. And I have no doubt this staff knows how to leverage his ability in their offense.

Most are judging MQ based upon Brewster's never really effectively using him. "If he's that good, why doesn't he play" was the refrain over and over. The plain fact is Brewster never had an offense that fit his abilities except the year Dunbar was OC and MQ wasn't here. Brewster was unable to adapt on the fly. He played Weber late late into the 55-0 Iowa debacle...isn't one definition of insanity doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result.

So yes, it's a little presumptuos to push him for the Heisman now, but you know what, it is within the realm of possibility. GO GOPHERS!

Spell check is a right mouse click over the word. Just to let you know. If not, try selling the Tandy 2000 you are running to a museum.

Intelligence

The purpose of my comment isn't directed at or anyway has anything to do with any assessment of Gray. It is being made for sole purpose of clarifying the term "intelligence" when it comes to football.

IQ intelligence is just one of many types of intelligences a person has. For example, there has been a great deal of work done on "Emotional" intelligence. A person may have a high IQ but if that person does not have emotional intelligence he or she may have a great deal of difficulty in functioning in society.

I believe there is also "Football" intelligence which is how quickly a mind can "see" what is going on the field and react to it. That's the intelligence great quarterbacks need to have.

WTF, someone posts a thread "Boarders are closed..." and no one corrects it (of the posts I read) and you nitpik when I indicated I was not sure of my spelling by using (sp) quotes? And BTW, I did an edit and tried your suggestion and it didn't work. (And how would I know that feature would work on this board...I'm a guy, I don't ask directions until I get lost!).

And as for your comment on my computer model, this is why lurkers don't join this board...people like you who are insulting others with not a shred of information nor intelligence (nor common decency) behind their posts. I actually appreciated your spelling check suggestion as being helpful to another person who supports and cares about the Gopher FB team. But then you had to insult me. Hope you feel better now.

And BTW I'm not running a Tandy 2000, it's an overclocked Franklin but it's dual core with 2mb L2 cache.
