Is this the earliest we have ever started the Big Ten? Last season we opened on Dec 31 with Michigan State but otherwise I can't recall beginning the conference schedule before January.
Since they went from a 16-game to an 18-game league schedule starting last year, they were forced to begin the conference season before New Year's to get the two extra Big Ten games in before March Madness.
I like starting at home vs. PSU, btw. It would be nice to get off to a 1-0 start and this gives us a better than decent shot at that.
Good point. No disrespect to Penn State, the Nitts won't be a pushover with Battle running the show, but after two straight years of opening the Big 10 season with Michigan State, let's take our chances with someone else. Much better chance to start 1-0.
