What was it the Wolf said in Pulp Fiction? "Let's not start #*%*ing each others' *#%*'s just yet?" Beating Northwestern was good, but we can't celebrate too long. Tomorrow night's game would be huge for this team. Being a hockey fan who doesn't really understand basketball, I wouldn't mind getting some insight from the bball fans here as to why we match up well against the Wolverines tomorrow. Let's go Gophs, I really hope to see something special during this tournament.

Michigan relies on the 3 ball and plays small. We played small against NW and man defense towards the end shutting down NW and taking away the 3. Hopefully we can be that effective against Michigan. Also, we played Michigan once during the regular season in a game that went down to the wire.

Trey Burke absolutely went off last time we played them. I'd imagine Andre can do a better job defending him than our guards did last time. The key will be containing him and Hardaway. Prevent those two from going off and we have a great shot at upsetting them. Big test for Austin and Andre defensively.

Yeah, I think Mav was guarding Burke for most of that game, so Andre should be able to do better.

Mattw, I see it exactly the same way. I think the good guys win. Go Gophers!

I agree. While it obviously isn't a perfect fit, I think of Michigan as a NW with better athletes.

More proof that you don't care about the Gophers:
I don't see much reason to believe the Gophers can pull off a victory on Friday

And most of all:
  • This week, Brewster Academy beat Hargrave Military Academy 87-76 in what is called the "National Prep Championship". Brewster's Mitch McGary had 12 points and will arrive in Ann Arbor this summer. As you watch this Wolverine's team, think about how a high-talented and physical recruit who can defend inside and clean the boards could help them. Even with the graduating seniors and the possibility of players leaving school early, Michigan fans will have a lot to be excited about this fall.
  • Brewster has a phenomenal roster every year (and was home to the Gophers' Mo Walker just two years ago) so the loss by Hargrave, their first of the season, is nothing to hang their heads about. 2012 Minnesota signee Charles Buggs contributed 15 points for Hargrave.

You go on for three lines telling us to think about how Michigan's "high-talented and physical" recruit will help them next year and how Michigan fans have so much to be excited about. You then briefly mention that Minnesota had a recruit in the game (not to mention he outperformed Michigan's recruit).

Also, he rarely says anything positive about the team, only the negative thoughts.

Has nothing to do with personal feelings on the Gophers. It's a belief as to one team's chances to win a game. Go yell at the oddsmakers and general public who place bets tomorrow... how dare they have Michigan as the favorite and damn those folks who put their own money on the line based on a belief that Michigan will beat the Gophers!

Yes - for those less familiar with Michigan, I'm pointing out that they have a particular need for a guy like McGary. It's a good fit and you'll see tomorrow that they have the need. McGary is big time recruit that should make an immediate impact for the Wolverines and his team won. I'm not going to start a post about the guy, but a few quick words about him when talking about Michigan seems reasonable.

I'm not the most emotional guy in the world, but I don't see what me believing that Michigan will win & that McGary is a very good player has to do with me "caring" or "not caring" about the Gophers. Nonetheless, I do appreciate the feedback.

I appreciate your articles.

I hope Tubby starts with his Man to Man defense and forces Burke and Hardaway to beat our defenders. We give up far too many wide open 3's to consider playing zone against any team that can get hot from distance. Michigan will destroy the Gophers if we try to use a zone.

Anybody know if Sampson will be cleared to play? Could use his 5 fouls if nothing else...EE has a hard time staying out of foul trouble when he plays major minutes.

Another key will be the Welch/Coleman combo...Need them to avoid sloppy turnovers...Both had multiple turnovers on poor passes against the 1-3-1 zone. Those guys need to value the ball more and knock down some shots.

Has Joe Coleman ever made a shot from beyond 5 feet?
