In summation, 8 of the Gophers' 12 nonconference opponents had better RPI's than the previous season. Nevertheless, the nonconference schedule has lots of room to improve, which it should next season with the stellar field in the Anaheim Classic along with the Gophers' increased national profile and expectations.

Generally speaking, I'd like to think most seasons from here forward the Gophers will end up playing approximately 4 or 5 top-100 nonconference opponents. That constitutes roughly half (or just under) of their non-Big 10 slate, leaving plenty of room to schedule the obligatory handful of "Hostess Cupcake" guarantee games. As long as the Gophers play 3 quality opponents at The Barn every season (read: top-100 and/or BCS opponents), I can live with a cupcake quotient of about 5 every season.
