GopherSports: Who is the Gophers team of the 1990's decade? (Football: 1999)

GopherSports has a poll finding the top Gopher sports team of the 1990's decade. For football they have the 1999 team which is one of my favorite Gopher teams of all time:

• 8-4 overall – most wins since 1967
• 5-3 – T-4th in Big Ten
• First bowl game in 13 years
• Finished year ranked 18th in the country

Unfortunately we're not allowed to choose 1996-1997 Gopher Basketball

That team really deserved a better fate. Finished 8th in nation in scoring defense at just 15.6 points per game. And paired that with 26th ranked offense (30.7 ppg).

3 losses in B1G were by 3 to Ron Dayne and Wisconsin, 3 to Ohio State (that one stung as they were down that season) and 5 to a Drew Brees Purdue team.

Team could have easily won all 3 of those games with a little luck. Of course, we used all that up in the upset over #2 Penn State in Happy Valley that year...
