GopherSports: Who is on your Mount Rushmore for Gophers TEs?

Not a big enough room for all the tight ends including Bryce Witham.

Here is my list:

Charlie Sanders
Matt Spaeth
Ben Utecht
Maxx Williams

Go Gophers!!

Too bad they don't include some information about each of the people they put up there. I would go with the same list as what you posted Bleed but I also think guys like Kingsrighter and Fahnhorst probably deserve some serious consideration for this list.

TE is tricky too because the great receiving TEs are going to get noticed a lot more then then great blocking TEs.

Spaeth
Utecht
Williams
and...….I'm not familiar with too many else on the list. I'll go with Fahnhorst.

Very hard to argue with any of them - nor can I come up with any other possible candidates. One thing to note however, is that Charlie Sanders only played TE his senior year - he had played defense until then. He was all-conference for that 1967 season, drafted third round and went on to a stellar Hall-of-Fame NFL career.

TE is the one position that is underutilized in the current regime, one of only a few minor complaints. Many NFL TE's come from the big ten. If we can start using ours it would help us to recruit pass catching type TE's.

The regime that left you mean. There is a new OC. I think it was proven months ago he uses tight ends in his offense a fair amount.

If we don't use TEs to catch passes then why do we need to recruit pass catching type TEs?

Utecht
Williams
