per the U: 2012 was a special season for Golden Gopher Football and head coach Jerry Kill. Not only did Minnesota begin the season 4-0, but the Gophers doubled their win totals from the 2010 and 2011 seasons to gain bowl eligibility for the first time since 2009. To celebrate, GopherSports.com is counting down the Top Ten Plays of 2012, presented by Medica.

Each day, GopherSports will put out a new video counting down to the Play of the Year:

Go Gophers!!

I hope not. That would be comforting to some, I suppose, but journalistically dishonest. His play was part of the season and surely worthy of consideration.

That's fair, but if we get a highlight of one of the acupuncture sessions, I will not be happy. Also, I want the mom's best friend to do the play-by-play.

Wait - a team's own official website is subject to journalistic ethics all of a sudden? Since when?

When we see Barker in one of these highlights, howabout we ignore him and instead say "man, Nelson put that right on the money" or "Gray looked good on that!" or "Max, hate to see him go, but it is understandable and the ability to throw a ball like that will definitely benefit him in the years to come."

I don't mean to step on your toes bleed.

Carter going to be #1?

That would probably be my pick, one of the most amazing sequences of plays I've seen a guy have, not taking into account situation or any of that.

Interesting, like I said, I woulda put that #1, I'm a little intrigued as to what 2 and 1 are going to be. I'm guessing Nelson's day against Purdue, and....maybe the defensive goalline stand against Syracuse?

Interesting that they would put the Purdue passing highlights in there considering a lot of the big plays were to #82.

One of em is probably Thompson's interception on the first play against Syracuse.

maybe the defensive goalline stand against Syracuse?

This would be my choice for #1, though in the U of M's highlight video posted after the game, the goal line stand was not included. The only time I've seen it is from this video:

I LOL'd, that is hilarious. I know it seems petty to do, but man, I love it hahaha

Where's AJ?! His mom's friend said he was our best player! Haha. :)

Petty??!? He walked out on the team and is STILL crying to the media and bad mouthing Kill. I like how they eliminated him.

Agreed Parski. It would be petty if he dropped a crucial pass in a bowl game and we decided to go back and purge him from the highlights. He made a conscious decision to not only leave the team, but try to damage it on his way out.

On a happier note, great job Gophersports and thanks Bleed. It was fun reliving the highlights of this season. Its nice to see some of the moments that got us to Houston.

I said I love it, but I can see why someone MAY construe it as petty to cut them the way they did.

I'm surprised that goalline stand against Syracuse never made the list.
