I'm guessing that the stats listed for Maverick should be for Armelin?

Devoe is definitely still hurt, it's a little worrisome since it seems to be a nagging injury. He is a key peice to the puzzle this year.

I thought Trevor would have seen more than 13 minutes. They certainly were productive minutes, a bit surprised though.

He looked like he could have beaten them all by himself.

Now we can wonder what Tubby will do with the lineup for Winona St. I wonder if anything that happened tonight will impact the rotation for Monday. I bet Tubby does the same thing he did tonight and then switches things up against Wofford.

I only watched the 1st half, but I still feel like Trevor had way more than 3 rebounds total. Anyone else feel similarly or am I just crazy?

I saw at least 2 that he purposely tipped to nearby teammates. Armelin got in his way once and forced the ball out of bounds on what would have been an easy Mbakwe rebound. Just from what I saw, that's another 3.

I see not much has changed with Al Nolan - 0 pts in 21 minutes? Ball distribution and steals are great, but would be nice to see a few points from him on a consistent basis this season.

Did you watch the game, or just look at the box score? When the transition game and half court are clicking like that to score 109 points, you don't need your point guard to take shots off the dribble. Nolen looked great running the point.

I hopes its just precautionary and giving him more time to make sure it is healed. He is the one guy they really need.

He still looked plenty mobile in his limited minutes. Hopefully they are just going easy on him.

The shot he took early in the game was classic Nolen however.

NateDawgUM... So are you gonna point out "one shot" early in the game as classic Nolen? Maybe that one he took earned him a "Tubby Stare" and thus made Al realize what his job was, and that is to run the team so the others can make things happen?

I obviously pointed it out, so why are you asking me?

I didn't say Nolen played a bad game. I said he pulled up in the lane and put up an off balance clunker early in the game.

I did cringe at that early. Maybe he got it out of his system! Overall I thought he played a very solid game.

There were many cringe moments though, especially with the freshman team out there. But overall I think it was pretty crisp for an exhibition game and a lot of new faces.

My cringe moments came on the alley oops. The Hawks were so small that they kept under cutting and I was worried about a Gopher getting injured.

Free-Throws

Colt 6of6
Ralph 5of6
Trevor 5of6
Eliason 2of2

I was pleased to see our big men shooting well from the line.

I'm not worried about lack of scoring from Nolen - If he posts 7 ast, 4 stl, and 0 turnovers a game, we're winning a lot of games this year.

Mkawbe will be a starter...he has to be. He is absolutely fearless and seems to have a terrific nose for the ball. I was impressed with Sampsons shooting touch, that is definitely an improvement. Nolen is a ball hawk and seeing him back on the floor just proved to me how much they missed him late last season. White is going to have a number of high light reel dunks during the season and also shows he could shoot as well.

After this disastrous fall, I am looking forward to cheering on the Gophers this season. This could be more special than the pundits are thinking.

Yeah, if I was running the show, I would start Trevor too. My guess is that he will be by B10 time. Not to slight Colt or RSIII though, I'm expecting good things from both of them.

I assume you mean Williams when you mention highlight reel dunks...

We were discussing Al's game last night and even though he didn't score, I thought he played well. There were times last year where Al handled the ball too much at the offensive end and his team mates were standing around. Last night the ball was moving crisply at the offensive end. It would be nice if Al was more of an offensive threat to keep the defense honest, but I would rather have Al do what he does best. Al's aggressiveness and anticipation on defense is fun to watch. The entire team was fun to watch last night. It will be interesting to watch their progress as the competition gets stronger, but last night was a great start.

OMG what a slip! Yes, Williams...wow. Enough of the White...gotta flush my memory!

Quite the slip. One might even call it Freudian. So StCroix, tell me about your childhood. ;)
