Gophers will play SMU on Dec. 12

Love the addition of SMU, but absolutely hate these neutral site games.

SMU is a 30 minute drive from Frisco...just play the fn game at SMU. My gosh.

I'm guessing this will be at the Texas Legends home arena, which is a great modest venue, but what an awful trend these neutral site games has become.

Go True Home and Home Games!!

What’s the reason for doing that? There must be a cash reason that they do these pseudo home games. Maybe trying to squeeze a few more bucks out of season

Agree 100%.

Plus, in this case, its much easier for SMU fans to get to Frisco than Gopher fans to, say, Sioux Falls.

Our neutral site can be Target Center.

It's because of the net rankings...neutral site games are friendlier to the ranking....softer loss than a loss at home. And also because a neutral site game may not have a return game...easier to agree to...where as a home game requires a return away game (home and home) and coaches don't wanna commit to that with the volatility of the rosters.

Neutral court is weak, but I will take it. Do we have three games left to schedule?

I think a cupcake over the holidays is all but assured.

Can we get a Power 4 home game? I'd love that paired with a true road game at a stronger Mountain West or Missouri Valley program (assuming Power 4 isn't gettable).

My guess: We start a home-and-home at home against a Power 4 and schedule two more cupcakes.

Looking it up we have the two games that are TBD in Charleston, Cal in Sioux Falls, SMU in Frisco and home games against UND, St. Thomas, Western Illinois, Southern and UTSA. Like you said we will probably add one more cupcake in December, probably right before Christmas. Probably add another game right before Charleston, so hopefully that is a decent opponent, but I'm guessing we want to have seven games so to get someone good to do a home and home would be nice. Honestly I would mind playing a Loyola, Drake or UNI type either, St. Joes, Rhode Island, St. Louis. Maybe we start a home and home with Pitino?
